Mom wanted me to come by the office today. She says I need to learn more about the business if I'm planning on taking over. 

Things have been going pretty okay lately. 

Leo and Athena hit it off and they've been dating for a week now. Leo would have to leave for college in a couple of weeks so they've been trying to spend as much time as possible together. Whether it be going to the movies, amusement parks or just cuddling up at home. 

School is going pretty okay too since its only the second week. I've been getting closer to the others. The only worst part is, is that usually during lunch or third period Emma comes over and hangs out with us. She mostly talks to Elijah and the whole conversation ends up being about him. 

I'm just waiting for Vanessa to snap and kick her out. The only reason she hasn't done that yet is because Emma is the daughter of the school's owner.

"Hey, Jennie, do you need me to drop you off at the company?" Leo asks as I shove my coat on. It's a tad bit chilly outside since it's September and fall has come. I miss the weather back in Paris.

"Yeah, only if you want to though. Don't you have plans with Athena today?" He walks with me to the garage. "I'll just drop you off on the way," he says getting into the driver's seat. 

On the way to the company, I decided to ask him how things have been going with Athena because every time I ask her she just blushes and dismisses the question.

"So, how have things been going with you and Athena? I know it's only been a week but I want the deets," I turn over in my seat and stare at him.

He smiles at the question and shrugs his shoulders, "Its been pretty fun. During the first few days, she was pretty shy but now she's starting to warm up."

I grin at him and shove his shoulder, "Aw, aren't you lovesick! I never thought I'd see the day you blushed."

He rolls his eyes and laughs, "shut up." 

Once we made it to the office, I said goodbye to Leo and started making my way inside.

I greeted a couple of people on the way to the elevator and they happily greeted back.

I stopped on the 50th-floor where mom's office was and headed over. When I git closer to her office I noticed a couple of figures standing inside?

Did we have people over?

I cautiously opened the door and made my way inside.

I was caught by surprise when I found Elijah and his parents standing in front of my mother.

Their backs were turned to me so only my mom noticed when I entered the room.

She smiles and waves me over, "ah! You're finally here. Come, meet them."

They turn around at my mom's outburst and Elijah sends me a kind smile when he notices me.

I smile back and head over to greet Mr. and Mrs. Grey.

"Nice to meet you, " I say shaking both of their hands. Mrs. Grey smiles back but Mr. Grey keeps his face neutral

I discreetly raise a brow at my mom, silently questioning was they were doing here.

"Oh, Jennie! We were just discussing some business deals. Why don't you and Elijah step out for a bit while me and the Grey's talk?"

I smile at her and then at Mr. and Mrs. Grey.

"Sure! Come on Elijah." I motion for him to follow me and he does.

Once I shut Mom's office door I let out a breath I didn't know I was keeping in.

Elijah chuckles, "you looked like you were suffocating in there."

I look up at his grinning face and shrug my shoulders, "not to be rude or anything but, your parents scare me."

"Haha, I get it. They can be intimidating. Imagine living with them."

We awkwardly walk down the halls of the building and I'm not sure what to say. I mean, what am I supposed to say? We barely know each other, we met like two days ago. 

"So..wanna go check out my office?" I ask looking over to him, chewing the insides of my cheeks. 

His eyebrows furrow, "you get your own office? Lucky. My parents say I can't get one until I actually run the company."

"Well, do you want to run the company?" I ask as we continue our way down the halls, to the elevator. 

"Not really. I'm actually interested in music. I want to do something down that path but I know it'll be a pretty big argument if I ask my parents. If everything else fails or if my parents really want me to, I might take over the company."

Wow, I didn't think it was that complicated for him. For me, I always thought I'd take over the company and have my whole life planned out.

"Wow, I didn't know you thought that. Ya know, out of the others, you stay pretty quiet," I say, pressing the 49th-floor button.

Instead of replying to my question, he shrugs instead. I guess he keeps more to himself.

Even at that party, we had not too long ago. While the others were getting drunk he stayed on the couch, being the responsible one so that we wouldn't get hurt.

We step out of the elevator and lead him to the corner, where my office is. 

The cold air hits my face as I walk in and take a seat behind my desk.

"Damn, you have your own office?" he says, looking around and touching a few books on the shelves. 

I chuckle, "yeah, you don't?" 

He shakes his head and takes a seat in front of me, "Nah, my parents say until I get the business, I have to work in a cubicle like every other person working there."

That's a bit harsh.

"I-" my sentence gets cut off when my office door slams open. 

I jump in surprise and Elijah whips his head around to the office doors.

Standing there, out of breath, is Leo. He has a worried expression written all over his face and is sweating, from what I'm guessing is running or being worried in general.

Wait- why is he here? I thought he was with Athena.

I glance at Elijah for a second and he's staring back at me with the same question going through our minds.

What happened?

"G-guys, I-It's Athena. She's in the hospital."

Anyway, I just finished editing a couple of the chapter in the beginning and trust me, they're much less cringe now.
