Percy

The grey sea tiles glistened below my feet. Fish swam between the coral growing in the window.

"What was that about?" Calypso asked.

I looked at the floor, shaking my head. Should I tell her? Annabeth sounded cautious when she told me...

"No secrets Percy," Calypso pleaded, putting her hand on my shoulder.

I sighed. All honesty... "Olympus isn't doing too hot right now..."

"I know that," Calypso pressed. "There's more."

"Athena warned Annabeth she could feel a war brewing between the Half-Bloods and Olympians... she told me to pick a side. And to choose wisely." I spoke.

Calypso stared at me. "That's... this isn't good."

"I know," I said, beginning to pace. "I don't know what's going on here but... I can't betray who I am, Calypso. And that's a demigod. A mortal. I can't fight against the faces I've mentored."

Calypso looked wary. She had already spent her time banished for picking the wrong side in a war.

"How are the odds looking?" She asked.

"The Half-Bloods, probably Ares, Nemesis, Nike and a lot of minor gods all together. And then... Zeus, Athena, and Hera for sure all on the Olympians side." I said.

"Aphrodite will fight on side of the Half-Bloods," Calypso said.

"How do you know?" I asked.

"She will. She has many Half-Blood children, and she will follow Ares. But love is a double bladed sword. You can't trust it." Calypso said.

You can't trust it...?

"Hephaestus would be on the fence..." I said, ignoring her comment. What did that mean?

"He wouldn't want to be on Aphrodite's side, but he doesn't completely agree with Zeus's ways." Agreed Calypso.

"Poseidon..." I trailed off.

"Another on the fence..." Calypso said.

"Hades will side with the Half-Bloods," I said.

"I wouldn't be too sure. He's finally got his seat on Olympus, he won't want to lose it." Calypso said.

I sat down, with my head in my hands. "This is all giving me a headache."

"Don't worry about it," Calypso slid onto the bed beside me.

We sat in silence for a while.

Finally, she spoke up. "I'm with you Percy... and I know you've chosen who you're aligning with... if we go down, we go down together. I'm with you. Always."

"I'm with you," I agreed. "Always."

"I must say... I don't know how the dice will roll in this war." She sighed.

"Don't underestimate the Half-Bloods," I shook my head. "They vent their emotions to me. They're angry. They've always been bitter."

"A pawn of the gods..." Calypso looked out the window at the never ending sea.

"It's beautiful," I changed the subject.

"The view?" Calypso asked.

"Both views," I said, before kissing her. She threw her arms around me.

Annabeth

I threw a stone into the fountain I designed. A beautiful palace on an exotic island in the Pacific Ocean. Balconies, columns, tropical plants. Walls, pathways, beautiful gardens. An architectural masterpiece I had designed myself... and nobody to share it with.

I took a golden drachma from my pocket. I had changed into a Camp Half-Blood shirt and jean shorts. My dagger hung from my belt. I examined the golden drachma before tossing it into the fountain.

"Oh Iris, goddess of the rainbow, please accept my offering." I paused. "Show me Grace and Hunter,"

The water fizzled, showing 2 children sleeping in a crib. Twins. Tomorrow would be their first birthday. Their father, Roman, was having a hard time keeping up with the money and cost of having children. Last month, I had sent him a $1,000 check. I knew it wouldn't be enough, but I couldn't do much for them. I had to leave him once I had the children. The man loved me, and I had merely compared him to Percy our entire relationship. Percy, with his windswept hair and kind eyes. The way the ocean roared within him.

These kids needed a mom, and I wouldn't be there for them.

I smiled sadly at their image. "Grace, Hunter," I said. "Mommy loves you... never forget that."

I had to get them to Camp Half-Blood when they were old enough. I couldn't bare to let them suffer.

Roman could see through the mist.

A struggling artist, I was drawn to his beautiful paintings of buildings, ancient and modern. And his accurate depictions of Greek mythology. Only a month into our relationship, he saw me for who I was. Having first accused me of being Athena, he was intrigued to hear my story, every bit of it. A Half-Blood, the quests, the people, the wars, inside and out. The boy who was my first. It intrigued him to know the stories were still living and building.

And it broke his heart when I told him I could not stay. Our 1 and a half year relationship ended when I left our children with him. I promised to look out for them, but how well had I kept that promise? To the best of my ability, but I wasn't able to do much.

I had written to him. The letters went largely ignored, but on occasion I received a response. A handwritten letter with a photo of the children in it, or a drawn sketch that was just as good.

"Annabeth?" Called a voice.

Through the twins door, Roman came.

"Roman," I said, startled. "I was-"

"They're beautiful aren't they," he approached the crib and stood over it, beside my iris message self. "They have your eyes..." he said sadly. "And I'm sure they have your brilliant mind.

I frowned, and returned my gaze to them.

"And I'm sure they have your heart, talent, and resilience." I said. "I'm sorry I can't be there for them."

"I understand... this camp." He said.

"When they are of age. Around 10." I said. I didn't want to risk it.

"It will be hard for me to let them go, you know..." he said. "They're the only piece of you I have left."

"I..." I didn't know what to say. The image began fading. "Goodbye Roman. Hunter, Grace, I love you."

The image vanished.

I shook my head and walked painfully back up the steps to my palace.
