MINHO HAD LOOKED AT THOMAS which such anger it scared even Atlas, and he watched as he pinned Thomas up against the ivy walls."Look around, slinthead! there's no where to go." he said, gesturing to the walls. However, it fell on deaf ears, as thomas looked behind Minho, to the walls. Atlas followed his gaze, suddenly gaining an idea.
"The vines." he murmured. Thomas pushed Minho aside.
"Atlas, help me get him up here." Thomas said, and Atlas rushed to take Albys other shoulder. They began to string him up in the vines.
"what are you shanks doing?" Minho said, breathless.
"Isn't it obvious? are ya gonna help or not?" Atlas asked, and Minho nodded, approaching them.
They tied knots into the ivy and wrapped it around his ankles and wrists, so that he hung safely in the vines.
Suddenly there was a rumbling, and Minhos head snapped over to their left. another monster was approaching them.
"We have to go!" Minho panicked, and Atlas agreed, but he felt responsible for Alby, and needed to finish getting him safe before they could get their tails out of there.
"I'm sorry.." Minho said, letting go of the vines. it shocked atlas, and he lost his footing and watched as Alby sunk a few inches lower. Atlas watched it horror as Minho ran from them, abandoning them at the wall. Thomas scoffed.
"Alright, alright." he said, panicking.
"Cmon, inside the vines." Atlas said, grabbing onto Thomas's arm.
they buried themselves beneath the ivy, keeping a sturdy hand on Albys supports, and watching in horror as one of the grievers stalked alongside the wall.
They watched, muted, as it creeped along, passing the spot they were hidden, until they could no longer hear it.
Afterwards, they got out of their hiding spot and tied Alby off, so he could hang solo on the wall.
"Okay, come on, we need to find Minho." Thomas said, and atlas nodded.
They began their descent down the corridor.
Some time had passed before Atlas got the feeling something was watching them, and it looked as though thomas did too, as he stopped and began to look around.
He took a few steps forward, before his foot squelched in something on the ground. he cautiously lifted his foot up, watching the tendrils of slime stretch between his shoe and the concrete. Atlas gagged. Thomas continued to look, until something slimy and wet began to dribble onto the shirt.
Thomas looked up, and suddenly a griever dropped down in front of them. Atlas yelped.
"Go, go, go!" Atlas said, turning and running down the hallway, Thomas following behind.
They took lefts and rights, dodging its pincer. As they were running, Minho had quite literally ran into thomas.
"We need to get out of here! the maze is changing!" He said, stopped in front of a hallway.
"This section is about to close we can lead it in here." He said, before taking off, Atlas following behind.
It took them until the end of the hallway until they realized Thomas wasn't following, instead he was still back, waiting for the Griever to follow.
"What are you doing?!" Atlas yelled,.
"Cmon Thomas!" minho screamed.
thomas waited until the last second, watching the walls close in on itself. He began bolting down the corridor, the griever following closely behind.
"Cmon Thomas! hurry up!" Atlas yelled, watching as the griever reached out, inches away from the back of thomas's shirt, until he popped from the other side, watching the halls crush the griever. the machinery made a horrible crinkling noise. Minhos jaw dropped open.
"Jeez, greenie, you really did it." Minho said. Atlas whistled.
"What? What'd i do?" Thomas said, breathing heavily.
"You just killed a griever."
They were walking the maze, trying to find a hiding place, when Atlas spotted a natural groove in the wall.
"There!" he said. It looked quite small, but they could figure out how to squeeze in there.
Atlas pushed Thomas into it, and then, just as minho was about to crawl inside, they heard a roaring sound. a griever had spotted them.
Minho glanced at his watch. "We have 4 hours until the doors open." He said, and Atlas looked between him and the griever bounding in on them.
"Okay..okay. I'll distract it." he said, standing up.
"What? what, no!" Minho said, grasping for him, but Atlas was too far. He shook his head.
"I'm sorry, i'm sorry." he said, and he breathed shakily.
"Just—just tell newt i love him, okay?" he asked.
"Please, just do that for me." he said, before turning the facing the oncoming griever.
