chapter 5

Once Ronnie was on the road that leads to the beach, she could see a pair of tall ebony-haired boys. She quickly recognised them as Jin and Taehyung. It was no surprise they were walking down together, they're basically neighbours. "Hey, wait up!" Ronnie exclaimed from behind the two boys, causing them to turn their heads in her direction. "Ronnie!" Taehyung stretched out his arms ready to embrace her in a tight hug. "Hi Jin," she greeted the eldest, although only by a couple of months. "Heya," he replied cheerfully, excited to be at the beach again.

The three walked down to the warm sand. They set their stuff down near a rock, laying out a blanket and placing their bags down on it. The beach was almost empty, only filled with a couple of people. Which was strange for this time of day and year - it's usually packed during the summer.  

The trio was soon greeted with the other five, that happened to find each other during their stroll down. "Hi," Ronnie greeted the boys as they reached the area in which they decided to set their things. "You alright?" Jungkook quizzed, setting his things down on the blanket. Ronnie nodded signifying she was fine. "Let's go for a swim," Taehyung suggested, stripping his body off his shirt causing Ronnie's gaze to fall on his toned abs. "Ronnie? Are you coming?" she heard a familiar voice, it was laced with what sounded like jealousy and anger. Finally, she peeled her eyes off Tae's abdomen and looked at Jungkook who seemed to be staring right at her. Ronnie nodded and began following the rest of her friends in taking their clothes off. She felt a pair of eyes on her as she took her shirt and shorts off, but didn't think much of it. 

Once the group got in the water, they began fooling around, splashing each other and laughing. As hard as Ronnie tried to enjoy the moment, her thoughts got in the way. She couldn't stop thinking about the body they found in the forest. Who was it? Who's the killer? What was the motive? A ton of questions were circling Ronnie's mind, she couldn't relax. Without realising it, she zoned out while the boys were busy messing around in the water. "Hey Ronnie watch out," she heard just as she snapped out of her gaze. Ronnie looked up but saw nothing, "What?" she questioned, confused. Unexpectedly, the brunette felt a pair of large hands wrap around her legs. Then she realised that one of the boys was missing. Ronnie let out a squeal as the pair of hands caused her to collapse into the warm water. As her head ducked under the surface, she scanned the area around her looking for the person who forced her to fall into the water. She swam around for a few minutes before she found someone swimming towards her. Desperate for air, Ronnie raised above the water surface gasping as she stood on the moving sand. Ronnie scanned the area around her, after not seeing a single living soul she inhaled a deep breath and disappeared under the water once more. It was deep, a never-ending deep, the small girl saw a figure floating down. It was deeper than she was, forcing her to swim towards it. When she got closer to it she realised it was a man. He wasn't old, his clothes were scruffy and torn. He looked familiar. Ronnie recognised him from the woods, from the night before. Petrified she swam to where the water met with air, hoping to get at least a small breath of oxygen. 

Her body appeared from below the water, she inhaled and exhaled not opening her eyes. When she finally did, she was faced with seven worried-looking boys. "Ronnie are you alright?" asked Jimin, an anxious expression plastered on his face. They were still in the water, Jungkook was holding Ronnie's small body in his arms bridal style. "I'm so sorry," Jungkook apologised but when he saw her confused look he felt the need to explain further. "I was the one that grabbed your legs and dunked you underwater," he described furrowing his eyebrows in empathy. "W-What happened after?" the girl clad in a yellow bikini asked, attempting to stand on her own again. "We just think you took a big gulp of water, since Jungkook," Jin made eye contact with the tall boy "took you by surprise," the eldest carried on. Ronnie wiggled out of Jungkook's firm grip, and when he didn't want to let her go she nodded implying it was okay. "I see, well I'm feeling great," the brunette admitted, smiling widely signifying her happiness. The boys didn't look convinced, "Oh come on," Ronnie whined grabbing Taehyung's wrist and dragging him to play in the deeper part of the sea with her. The ebony-haired boy chuckled and swam against his own will. Ronnie giggled when her feet could barely touch the sandy floor underneath her. The pair was having fun, making the rest jealous. So the six boys swam over to them, beginning to splash them and joined their fun.
