A few minutes later, a knock echoed through the whole house. Ronnie sprung up from her bed and ran downstairs towards the door. It swung open to reveal Yoongi, behind him stood Hoseok, Taehyung and Jungkook. "Hey," the eldest started "The others were busy, and couldn't come," he sighed a little, a frown washed over his face before it left as quickly as it appeared. "That's okay, come in guys," Ronnie moved out of the way to let the four boys inside. Jungkook was at the end of the small queue they formed, he smiled and winked at Ronnie causing a dark crimson to creep up her cheeks.
The boys settled themselves on the couch in the living room. When Ronnie walked in, there was only one space left on the sofa: it was next to Taehyung. Actually, there was so little space, that Ronnie was almost sitting on his lap. Jungkook glanced at his best friends getting cosy, Taehyung was smirking at Ronnie, who was shyly looking at her lap, fiddling with the rings wrapped around her petite fingers. As Ronnie was almost sitting on Taehyung, he pulled her onto his lap, situating his arms around her small waist. The crimson colour on her face deepened, she looked at the TV, which was switched on by Yoongi who was sitting on the other side of the small couch. Taehyung sat up a little taller, causing Ronnie to lean back on his chest. Unexpectedly, she settled her head on his warm chest and began watching the unfamiliar movie the other boy turned on. Jungkook was eyeing the situation between his two friends, and he couldn't help the jealousy creep up his neck until his ears turned red. Although he couldn't blame Taehyung for flirting with Ronnie, as Jungkook hadn't told him about his feelings towards the girl. However, in that moment the boy didn't care as his blood was boiling with envy and resentment.
Unexpectedly, Jungkook stood up and walked to the kitchen. All the boy's eyebrows furrowed when Ronnie stood up and went after him. Yoongi and Taehyung exchanged glanced before shrugging it off and going back to the movie. However, Hoseok knew precisely what was going on, yet he still focused on the film playing before him.
The girl walked into the kitchen to find Jungkook propped up on the counter, his arms straight and his ears red. "Jungoo, what happened?" Ronnie cooed, walking closer to him while stretching out her hand to caress his. "God, Ronnie! How can you be so oblivious?" he asked rhetorically, throwing his arms in the air. "T-To what, Kook?" the brunette stuttered attempting to understand what he meant. "You never understand do you?" Jungkook was beating around the bush, however, he was ready to tell her how he feels towards her in that second. "Ronnie I-" he started, still he couldn't bring himself to say the words. Jungkook took a deep yet shaky breath, he didn't understand why he couldn't utter the words. He was so sure of his feelings, more sure than he's ever been, nevertheless, he didn't feel ready to make her aware of all that he felt for her. "What, Koo? You know you can tell me anything," this time when she reached out to touch his arm, in hopes of providing him comfort, he didn't move away. Jungkook sighed deeply, "Not this Ronnie, not yet," Jungkook said calmly, before walking out of the kitchen and sitting back in his spot on the couch.
"What happened?" Hoseok leaned over and whispered to Jungkook, who was sitting directly next to him. The younger shook his head in response, poking the inside of his cheek with his tongue. Ronnie walked through the living room, rushing straight up the stairs to her bedroom. "What did you say to her?" the ebony-haired boy, whom Ronnie was just sitting on, asked. His eyebrows furrowed when Jungkook didn't answer his question, so he decided to follow the girl up to her room. Taehyung took the steps two at a time, getting to her door in little to no time. "V?" he asked, referring to her by the nickname of her full name - which everyone rarely used. When she didn't reply, Taehyung pushed the door open, revealing Ronnie curled up on the bed. "What happened, Ron?" he quizzed, sitting next to her on the comfortable double bed. The girl opened her mouth to respond, nonetheless when she was about to reveal the truth, she closed it back up. "Jungkook- I said some things that upset us both," Ronnie replied dishonestly, however she felt that Jungkook wanted to keep what happened in the kitchen private. Taehyung nodded, eating her lie up as if it were the truth. The two continued talking, changing the topic quickly. Little did either of them know, Jungkook was standing just outside the door leading to Ronnie's room.
He was on his way to apologise for his sudden outburst, when he heard Taehyung ask the brunette what occurred downstairs. Jungkook quickly pushed his back against the wall beside the entrance, listening in on their conversation. When Ronnie didn't reply to Taehyung straight away, he thought she will tell him what actually happened. "Jungkook- I said some things that upset us both," when Ronnie uttered those words, a huge smile overtook Jungkook's lips. He leaned his head back in relief and comfort, he was elated that she didn't tell their friend what actually happened as he didn't want anyone else to know - not even Hoseok, whom he shares everything with.
Once Taehyung was certain that Ronnie was alright and no longer upset, he walked back downstairs. On his way back to the living room, he passed Jungkook pacing in the hallway; the boy was chewing on his bottom lip so hard, he thought it might start bleeding. The, slightly, elder boy walked up toJungkook, placed both hands on his shoulders and tilted his head so he would look at him. "Look, Koo," he began "she was really upset, but she's better now. Go in there and sort this all out," he continued in a whiney tone, ready for both of his best friends to become civil once again. Jungkook nodded in response to his friend's pep talk, the corners of his lips turning up moderately.
The door was wide open, however, when Jungkook walked up towards it, Ronnie didn't seem to notice his presence. He decided to lightly knock on the wooden door, making the girl aware of him. "Come in," she said, nervousness written all over her features. She was worried about what Jungkook might say, thinking back to his sudden explosion. "Hey, I just... I just wanted to apologise," he said rubbing the back of his neck, he was unsure how Ronnie might react. She might want to go back to how things were, she might hate him or, worst of all, she might question his words and he would have to confess his feelings in such an unromantic way. "Jungoo," Ronnie used her favourite nickname of his, reassuring Jungkook a little. "It's okay, your emotions took over for a little bit, that's absolutely understandable," she said, a smile slowly inching its way onto her face. However, the boy could no longer suppress the wide grin spreading across his features. Ronnie was sitting with her legs straight, her back propped against the headboard, giving Jungkook the space to dive down and cuddle his face into her stomach. Ronnie's smile grew wider when he wrapped his arms around her waist tightly, giving her body a light squeeze. "Why do you have to be so understanding, Ron?" he asked rhetorically, snuggling his face into the soft material of her shirt as she played with his ebony locks.
The two remained in that place for the rest of the night. The other boys went home when they found Jungkook asleep on Ronnie's lap - the girl ushered them to show themselves out. As she played with Jungkook's hair, her mind couldn't help but wonder; how did she never develop feelings for this boy?
