It was now later in the afternoon, the sun would be setting soon but Ronnie was making her way to Jungkook's home. The ebony-haired boy was waiting for his friend to knock on his door, signifying she's here.

Minutes later, a knock erupted through the almost empty home. Jungkook swung the door open, revealing his best friend. She was dressed comfortably in light blue ripped mom jeans, cuffed at the bottom. Ronnie paired it with a cropped tank top - since it was still summer - and her Nike Air Force 1s. The girl had painted her shoes a while ago, she did it because everyone started doing it and she loved to paint. "It's a trend, you guys should try it," she said, lathering the signature tick in blue paint. The only one to take her advice was Jimin, who mirrored her love for the arts. He painted a Money Heist character on his shoes, however, none of his friends had watched the show so they didn't understand what he had painted. Ronnie's resembled her love for the album ASTROWORLD by Travis Scott, it had been her favourite collection of songs for a while.

Jungkook flashed Ronnie a warm smile, his hair was messily styled - it looked as if he hadn't even touched it after getting out of bed. He was dressed in black skinny jeans. He threw on a grey shirt, draping a large flannel over it and adding a pair of shoes he bought in Korea. The boy also brought his backpack, knowing they will need to continue the research at home. "Ready to go?" Jungkook asked, to which Ronnie responded with a small smile.

The walk to the local library was short. The pair kept the conversation light, considering the subject at hand. Jungkook and Ronnie walked in, and headed straight for the help desk, seeing as they barely visited the library. "Hello, how may I help you?" the boy behind the counter asked. He looked about their age, probably working his summer job. "Yeah, where's the newspaper section?" Ronnie quizzed, resting her palms on the tall desk separating the two. "Straight down, second left," the guy, from she could read, who was named Alex said with a wink. Jungkook was standing just behind Ronnie, although the flirtatious boy didn't seem to notice his presence. "Thank you," he said with gritted teeth, slipping his hand around Ronnie's waist. Jungkook lead her away to the appointed section, meanwhile, Alex looked startled behind the counter.

"What was that?" Ronnie questioned her friend's strange behaviour. Jungkook kept walking, wondering what the answer was himself. "I didn't like the way he was flirting with you," he finally answered, although only half truthfully - he wasn't going to confess his feelings in a library. "Kook," the short girl said sternly "I'm not in a relationship, therefore I can flirt with guys," Ronnie was clearly upset at her friend's actions, although she knew he was doing it to protect her. Jungkook replied, gritting his teeth once again, "I know,".

Both, Ronnie and Jungkook, knew there were feelings between them, it was undeniable. However, the brunette never admitted to herself she might like her best friend as more than he is. She thought it would ruin their friendship, nevertheless, she never allowed herself to think about what would happen if they were happy together. As soon as her mind drifted to those thoughts, she'd push them away thinking that no relationship can be perfect.

The tension between the pair could be felt by the whole library. Neither of the teens spoke more of the possessive occurrence, Ronnie began talking about the research they came to do. "We'll look through the newspapers from the last month," both quickly doing the math they figured they would search fifteen papers each. "We search for the things that could possibly point to a murder or suicide," the girl continued "We also tell each other if we find something, obviously," she said as if stating the obvious. Jungkook inhaled a deep breath and agreed to look through the newspapers from the first half of the month, while Ronnie will look through the rest.

After about an hour of looking through the stacks of papers, Jungkook stumbled over a possible hint. "Hey Ron," he spoke up after an hour of silence, "look at this," He pointed to an article that was written over three weeks ago. Ronnie stood up, walked around the back of Jungkook and peered over his shoulder. "Two reported murders in the south of Capeside." Ronnie read out, glancing at Jungkook with worry. "Both the bodies have been known to be left in the forest," the girl sucked in a breath, "They were reported to be covered in bruises.  A man and a woman were murdered. Although we have all of this information, the killer has not been found. That's where the article came to an end.

Jungkook inhaled and exhaled deeply, while looking at Ronnie with concern in his eyes. They didn't know if the man mentioned in the newspaper, was the same man the group stumbled across in the forest. "I think we should scan this and look over it more at home, it's getting late," Jungkook suggested, causing Ronnie to look out of the large window. Her eyes widened when she saw that, in fact, the sun has surrendered to the dark. The girl nodded, agreeing to his proposal.

Jungkook scanned the whole article, while Ronnie looked through the rest of the papers. She searched for any other possible clues, however she didn't find anymore. "Come on," Jungkook said, nodding his head towards the exit. On their way out, Ronnie made eye contact with the library clerk. He sent a wink her way, causing a blush to creep up her cheeks, spreading to her ears. Before Ronnie looked down, Jungkook followed her line of vision, squinting his eyes at Alex. The boy quickly looked away when he was faced with Jungkook's death glare. When the girl looked up, she was confused why the library clerk went back to doing his work. She took a glance at the boy walking next to her, who kept his eyes on the guy behind the tall desk. Ronnie rolled her eyes and sighed, walking slightly ahead of Jungkook.

On the way back, they agreed to continue at Jungkook's house. The pair didn't speak much, Ronnie was still confused why Jungkook was being so protective, while Jungkook's feelings have travelled to the surface. He was fighting with himself, his mind was battling whether he should ever confess. Maybe I just shouldn't tell her. She probably won't like be back, anyway. Plus I don't deserve her, she's too good for me. "Kookie?" Ronnie's voice snapped him out of his trance. He looked up, noticing they made it to his house. Jungkook mumbled a quiet "oh" and fumbled with his keys, attempting to find the correct one. He opened the door, allowing Ronnie inside first. "What a gentleman," the girl giggled, making a small joke although Jungkook got flustered, and looked down.
