"She won't come out of her room," said the voice outside. "I'm worried she's going to do something foolish."

"I agree," said another. "She and Raiko were so close, this must be heartbreaking for her."

"Have you heard how far along Hikura's plan is?"

"No. He plans on breaking out Raiko, maybe sending some sort of message to

Kachi, and going on peacefully with our lives for a while before the Agni Kai's attack again."

"Is he going to take her?"

"No. Hikura thinks she's emotionally unstable right now. She hardly eats, Alkazar says she isn't showing up for lesson, she barely even leaves her room. He says she probably is angry with herself for not being able to get Raiko."

At the last words I stood from my bed and stormed out past a surprised Koza and Kuzira. "You two should work on your whispering."

I didn't turn to look at their faces. I just walked away, going I didn't know where.

Koza and Kizura's assumptions weren't far off. In fact, they were right. It was my fault Raiko was still with Kachi. I should've held onto him tighter. I should have let him jump first and gone after him, to make sure he got down. Instead I just went for it, leaving him to remain prisoner while I was safely back at the hideout.

And it wasn't just that he was there instead of me. He was still hurt from when we were jumped in the alley. I knew Kachi wouldn't care if he lived or died, so long as we thought he was alive. For all we knew, he was dead right now.
No, I thought. Don't think like that.

I should've been the one to stay behind. I was in better health, and Raiko had more people here who loved him. He's lived here nearly his whole life. I'd been here less than a year.

I looked up from my trance and found myself in the weapons storage. There was a pretty decent sized amount of knives, swords, archery supplies, and more.

I pulled a katana off one of the shelves. It was wicked sharp, with a gently curved blade. It was extremely high quality, both the blade and the sheath.

I stood holding the black handle, when I noticed the name on the bottom. Piandao. Well, whoever he was, he could make one heck of a sword.

Almost in a trance, I tied the sheath to my back and put the sword inside.

Hikura doesn't trust my judgement, huh?

Well, whether he liked it or not, I was going to rescue my friend. With or without a rescue party.

I got out of the hideout with ease. No one seemed to notice me sneaking out. There was a solemnness hanging over the place that only worsened my attitude. One of our own had been taken; everyone was worried.

But making a plan would take too long. I was getting Raiko back. Tonight.

I stole out into the shadows of the night. The sky was littered with stars, but I didn't take any time to marvel at their beauty.

I climbed onto the low building that encased the entrance to the hideout and began moving through the city. I didn't want to meet any opposition from below, so I moved above the ground.

I'd heard in a story that the Air Nomads could fly. I wished I had that ability now.

I jumped from roof to roof. It wasn't too hard. All the buildings in this town, save for one or two, were built in the similar, low style. Now to mention cramped. My months at the hideout, doing jobs that required a lot of running, training with Alkazar, and moving around in general had strengthened my muscles. I wasn't that little weak girl who came to the hideout not knowing who she was. Tonight, I knew exactly who I was. I was an angry girl bent on revenge for her friend.
