Chapter 26

Nikki's POV

Its been a few days since the dream and I still don't understand it. Ryder has been extremely busy lately, he hardly ever leaves the office. Yesterday he told me that we have to go to this alpha meeting thing this weekend, and we leave tomorrow. Ryder told one of the staff to pack our bags, so I am extremely bored. Im waiting for the meeting we have to have with Alex and Kiara.
"Nikki, the meeting is about to start." Alex says while walking past the room I am in.
"Ok, wait up!" I yell back at him, hoping he heard me. Well of course he heard me with his werewolf hearing. On our way to Ryder's office we call Kiara.
Alex knocks on the door while we wait
"Enter" Ryder's voice sounds exhausted, which he should be because he hasn't been getting much sleep. We all walk into his office but I can't believe what he looks like. He has dark circles under his eyes, his hair is messy because he has run his hand through it too many times and he looks pale. I look at Alex and Kiara to see if they notice how different he looks but they don't.

The meeting didnt take to long, it consisted of Ryder and myself telling Alex and Kiara what to do when we were gone, because apparently the beta and the beta female have to take over for the Alpha and Luna when they are away. I am waiting for Ryder to come downstairs because we have to leave
"Ryder!" I try to mind-link him, only to find out that he blocked me out. Well if he is trying to irritate me then it's working. I know the only reason I'm reading in to it is because I'm hormonal due to the pregnancy.
"RYDER!!!" I scream at the top of my lungs, just to get pay back. All of a sudden I can here footsteps running towards me at an inhumane speed.
"Whats wrong? Is it the baby? Are you ok?" Here we go again, why does he always do this. I walk up to him and cup his cheeks in my hands
"Baby im fine, you need to calm down." I state and kiss his cheek
"We need to hurry up or we are going to be late." All the worry on his face disappears and is replaced with a look of annoyance.
"Hey, don't be annoyed with me, it was you that said we have to leave now not me." I say this while walking back to the car. A few minutes later Ryder jumps in and closes the door. We sit in silence for awhile. Its not awkward silence, its more of a comfortable silence. Well that is until he breaks it
"Hey, I'm sorry." Now I'm confused, why is he sorry
"Um, ok but what are you sorry for?"
"For not being around. Ive been really busy sorting out the pack and this meeting." He says, his voice still sounds exhausted.
"Its ok but if you need help with the pack then I can help, thats what I'm here for. And what exactly is going to happen at this meeting?" He looks like he is considering something I said before he answers me
"The meeting isn't that big of a deal. All the Alphas and Lunas in the country get together to talk about the rogues any other problem, like our little problem with your dad's pack, well more specifically whose in it."
