PETER RATHAWAY slinked out of the car and towards S.T.A.R Labs. Today was the day that Caitlin was supposed to check if there was any residual damage left when Hewitt touched him or when he tried to connect with Professor Stein. Since Lucy had to attend to the store, Genevieve was the one who drove Peter to S.T.A.R Labs and was sent to look after him.

Yes, Peter was still grounded. The only thing keeping him sane while he was stuck home was Lila and their conversations over the phone and Aspen and her insistent nature for Peter to read to her. So even though Peter was fully capable of driving, Genevieve was behind the wheel.

Driving was something Peter excelled at. Not at sports. Not at school. Hell, his gambling and poker took some time to develop. But driving? Driving was a walk in the park. Unlike Genevieve who failed her on-road exam two times before finally passing. Let's just say, Peter will teach Aspen and Penny when it comes to that.

"Just wait in the car, Gen," Peter advised Genevieve as he got out of the car and closed the door.

She huffed, "Fine, but you better be out or text me an update," She replied out of the side window.

Peter nodded and gave her a thumbs-up as he walked away and towards the front doors. He traversed the halls and followed the exact path Cisco led them through when Peter was here last.

He quietly went up in the elevator and found Caitlin waiting on the other side.

"Oh thank goodness, I hoped you remembered the way, but I was about to come down and find you," Caitlin said as she saw the teenage boy. She started walking away and down the hallway and Peter took that as a cue to follow her.

Caitlin led him to the cortex and then walked off, waving Peter to a chair, "Just wait here until I get the machines ready and pull up your other brain scans,"

Peter nodded and sat in the chair as Caitlin ran off into the room with all the medical equipment. He got out his phone and texted Genevieve, cause god knows she was already freaking out.

"Waiting 4 now. txt you when leaving," Peter mumbled as he typed those exact words and smiled while doing it. Genevieve hated it when he did that in his texts.

"Hey, Caitlin! It's been an hour, I'm ready for the new scan," A voice echoed through the hallway behind where Peter was sitting. Peter put away his phone and looked towards the archway of the Cortex.

"Barry?" Peter questioned as he thought he recognized the voice that was approaching. Then he realized he didn't hear footsteps, but a motor noise. The noise stopped for a moment and Peter stood up, hearing Barry sigh and hesitate, and then the motorized noise continued until Barry appeared in the Cortex archway.

Except Barry was in a wheelchair. He wheeled in and ignored the surprised and confused face on Peter.

Peter guffawed at Barry who seemed to ignore him or at least not care. Barry touched the joystick on the arm of the wheelchair, pressed it forward, and wheeled past Peter who started following him along the way.

"What happe-" Peter started asking.

"Got whammied,"

"What will you do-"

"I heal fast,"

"Why does Caitlin need to-"

"To check progress,"

"Does Lucy-"

Then Barry turned his wheelchair around and swiveled to see Peter, "Know?"

Barry shook his head and his cheeks flushed a bit, "No she doesn't. I didn't want to concern her and I should be back to normal in a day or two. Hopefully. And you don't tell her, right?" He asked.

Peter nodded, "Yeah, yeah. I won't tell her," He waved off.

"Aren't you grounded right now? What are you doing here?" Barry questioned. He was not going to get in trouble with Lucy or get caught in the crossfire between the pair.

Peter shrugged, "Caitlin and Lucy insisted that I need to be checked over just to be sure there's no residual damage from the Firestorm thing," He explained, "Cailtin is getting everything prepared and getting the old brain scans,"

"Barry!" Caitlin called out as she exited the medical room, "I can get your scan ready after I get Peter's brain scans updated." She turned to Peter, "Ready?"

Peter nodded and followed Caitlin to get his brain scanned again. And then it was done and Caitlin just needed to check for irregular activity and compare it against the ones taken after Peter had a seizure and after Hewitt touched him.

So Peter just walked out and started talking to Barry again.

"Uh, so, I have a question," Peter said to Barry, "Would you ever like train someone to use their powers for good like you do?"

Barry nodded, "Yeah, I mean, I have before. I've tried to help a lot of people, but not really taken like an apprentice or a protege,"

"Would you ever take one?"

"Maybe, why are you asking this Peter?"

Peter sighed, okay then. Barry was getting a little annoyed, but Peter had to press on.

"Did you know that Lucy grounded me because I used my powers. Because I tried to help people. Because I wanted to help people,"

Barry nodded.

"I want to be you. I wanna use my powers for good and I tried to help, but then Lucy straps this thing on me," Peter shows Barry his monitor that regulates his powers and tracks his location.

"Lucy just wants the best for you, you're too young," Barry said. Both guys saw Caitlin wave Barry over from the Med-Bay and Barry pushed his joystick towards the direction, making his way there as Peter continued to make his point.

"That's what everyone keeps saying! But, I'm almost 18 and that's when I'm a legal adult and I can really help! I don't wanna hide my powers away and Lucy's such a hypocrite to do this to me and ground me when she uses her powers all the time and god, she says that I don't have control of my powers, but I swear and I do and-"

Barry swiveled the chair towards Peter, "Peter," He commanded calmly, interrupting the boy's rant.

"Lucy is doing the very best for you and if you don't choose to listen when you turn 18, that's completely on you, but don't call her a hypocrite when she knows a hell of a lot more than you do. Whether that's your powers or whether that's just basic caregiving. She cares about you and will always be there no matter what you do, treasure that. She's only trying to protect you from what could happen, like this." He gestured to the wheelchair.

Peter stayed quiet as Caitlin opened the door for Barry to wheel into as he went to go get his scan. Caitlin had some papers in hand and seemed like she was gonna talk to Peter briefly before going to tend to Barry.

But before the door closed, leaving Caitlin and Peter, Barry turned his head over his shoulder and spoke.

"Take it from the person who lost their only mother figure,"

Suddenly, Peter felt very bad.
