A/N ~ Hey guys! How's the story going so far? This is my first time writing something big in 3rd person point of view so I'm trying not to just gloss over everybody's feelings in a brief narrative. Riddle of the Day: I am a symbol of power and glory, but the results are rather gory. If you asked wiser men, they would say that I am weaker than a pen. Comment your answers! ~Amora
Ahsoka woke up, still cuddled against Rex and very confused, before the events of the previous day came back to her. She must have only slept a few hours, because the sun was just peaking through the thick foliage outside of the cave. She sat up carefully, debating about what to do next. The girl said the hunt would start at dawn. She had to move.
Rex stirred at her movement. "Ahsoka." His voice was hoarse and weak, his lips dry and cracked. She gave him a smile.
"Morning soldier," She brushed her hand across his forehead, alarmed by how hot he was. "The sun will be up soon. I'm going to find water. I'll leave you the knife in case..." She let her words trail off. Rex shifted the best he could, shuddering.
"Ahsoka, the girl was right. You could survive, but I'm only a liability." He rasped, and started coughing. The sound painfully reminded her of when they were trapped, dying from the blue shadow virus. She shook her head, both to banish the memory and to discourage Rex.
"No, you're not. You are anything but a liability. I'll be back soon, with some water for you." She said stubbornly. She climbed out of the cave and into the early morning grey. Thinking, she pulled some of the bigger leaves and branches over the entrance to the cave. Now to find water.
Food would be nice too. Her stomach growled.
Shut it, I'm trying. She scaled a nearby tree, deciding to make her way back to the beach from yesterday. She made it nearly half way there when a whine cut through the air. She froze, her entire sensed alerting her to danger. She climbed higher in the tree that she was in, trying to get a vantage point on the noise. Laying on her belly, she peered out over the edge of the thick branch that held her. Trandoshans.
They were in a hovercar, rifles at the ready, and testing the air. "I told you, I smelled the Togruta. She's close." One said. She stayed still on the branch and prayed that they didn't look up. They did.
"There! Shoot her. She will be you first jedi kill, young Dar." A slightly older Trandoshan said. Ahsoka's body finally obeyed her. Her Togruta instincts told her that these were predators, and she was the prey. She fled, and the hunters gave chase. Adrenaline pumped through her body, and she ran through the trees, leaping from branch to branch. It was exhilarating, in a way. The woods around her were as alive as she was, and she was a part of the Jungle.
Suddenly she stumbled, tripping. She would have fallen off a branch if the same girl from the previous day. The girl caught her wrist and pulled her back onto the branch and behind shelter. "Quiet. You lost them." There were two other people behind her, a Twi'lek and a Cerean, watching her.
"Who are you people?" Ahsoka whispered. The girl looked at her strangely, then snorted and shook her head. "My name is Kalifa, and this is Jinx" She pointed to the Twi'lek, "And O-Mer." She gestured to the Cerean.
"We were jedi younglings." Jinx jumped in. Kalifa shot a look at him and he fell silent.
"Not anymore." She said bitterly. "Now, we're survivors."
"Ahsoka, I'm a padawan learner." She said. Kalifa nodded.
"I see you ditched your partner?" She said expectantly. Ahsoka shook her head.
"No. He's wounded and feverish. I won't leave him. He's my..." Her voice caught her throat. Friend didn't even begin to describe their relationship. They had been through a lot together. "Friend. We need water, and food." She said, giving Kalifa a pleading look.
