[ Chapter I. ]

I WAS AT THE AIRPORT, shivering as the cold air hit my face and body making me wish that I was inside. I would have been inside but Bud had called me a few minutes ago telling me that he would be in the front within 5 minutes. I snapped out of my daze when I heard a car honking along with other cars.

"Jamie! Jamie!" I heard a familiar voice call out my name making me look over to where I heard my name

"Nora!" I called out my older sister's name excitedly as I gripped the handlebar of my luggage before I started to walk

I saw Bud exit the driver seat before he rushed around the car, lifting the trunk of the car. As I made it to the edge of the sidewalk, Bug grabbed my luggage and bags, placing them inside. When he closed the trunk of the car, he finally turned to see me properly and his lips parted in shock.

"You're pregnant, Jamie!" Bud loudly announced as his eyes widen he noticed my protruding belly

"What?! You're pregnant, Jamie!" Nora exclaimed in shock as I heard the passenger door open and her footsteps

"Nice going, Bud." I muttered to my brother-in-law quietly before felling a tugging sensation in my arm

"Oh my god, how come I didn't see it? Have you told our family!? We're both pregnant at the same time, this is so cool!" Nora exclaimed happily to me when I turned to face her

"Yeah, my coat really hid my belly. No, I haven't told anyone in the family." I explained to Nora as I undid the buttons of my coat to show my belly properly

"Can't imagine how Dad is going to react, two of his daughters pregnant at the same time! He's going to have a heart attack." Nora said as her eyes widened at the last sentence

They say that starting a family is an act of optimism. Well, Tom and I were clearly very, very, very optimistic. There are always good times and difficult ones along the way. And with 13 kids, you learn a lot of lessons.

Bud, Nora, and I were waiting inside the car for my Dad to park beside us in the empty space. I was excited to see them since I haven't seen them since Charlie's graduation even though we called one another twice a week. I knew they were going to be surprised to see me since I had told them that I wouldn't be able to make it due to my classes at Harvard.

I snapped out of my daze when I heard a van pull up beside us, and I noticed that it was the family van. I saw Dad exit the van before he rushed around to open the door for Mom and I knew that they both went to open the backdoors for my siblings. I smiled widely and grabbed my purse just as Bud exited the car and walked over to open the door for me when he noticed that Dad was walking to Nora's side of the car.
