The tale of Mayumi

"Feelings?"

I was going through my stuff that has survived after the attack and found some handwritten pages of the icha icha book. I completely forgot about them, Jiraya gave them to me himself right before he went on his last mission.
~ One evening i came across him and Tsunade drinking and they invited me to join. I told him that i had read his book and he gave me the handwritten versions of the books new issue, claiming that he wanted a woman's opinion and Tsunade refused to read it. I went home, thinking i would give them some privacy, I thought they were on a date and made a great couple. Well, apparently i was so drunk that I passed out as soon as i got home and completely forgot about the book.~
I thought that I should brag about it to Kakashi and went out to find him. He was nowhere to be found and after a while i gave up, set on the bench, lit up my cigarette and started to read it myself.
- "Whatcha got there?" Says Kakashi from behind me, startling me.
- "Seriously? You pop out of nowhere just as i give up looking for you!"
- "You we're looking for me? I'm honored." He says sitting next to me and i push him off of the bench with my powers.
- "This is for scaring me." I say and give him a hand to stand up.
- "Didn't mean to." He chuckles and sits back on the bench. "So, why were you looking for me?"
- "To show you this." I raise my eyebrow and let him see the pages.
- "Where did you get this?" His eye widens.
- "Jiraiya gave it to me to get a woman's opinion." I reach out for the papers but he stops me.
- "You have to let me read this." He practically begs.
- "I have conditions." I raise my eyebrow at him.
- "The tables have turned huh?" He chuckles. "I'm listening then."
- "You let me see your face."
- "Why are you so obsessed with that anyways?" He asks looking into my eyes.
- "Don't know. I'm just curious, I guess." I shrug.
- "Hey guys. Mayumi i was looking for you." Hikaru says approaching us.
- "Deal." Kakashi says, taking the pages out of my hands.
- "Really?" I scream.
- "What's happening?" Hikaru widens his eyes, clearly confused.
- "Kakashi is about to show me his face!" I smile like an idiot.
- "Interesting." Hikaru looks at Kakashi, waiting for him to take off his mask.
- "I agreed to let you see my face, never said I'd do it now." Kakashi says shrugging and stands up.
- "You bastard." I narrow my eyes at him. "But, i gotta admit, well played." I smirk.
- "I'll bring this back to you tonight." He says walking away.
- "You realize that you can use your powers to take his mask off, right?" Hikaru asks laughing.
- "Yeah, but that wouldn't be fare." I smile to myself.
- "Come on, lets walk, i have to meet up with Genma and Kotetsu." We start to walk and he says after a while. "Well, At least i can count on, that your new "Boyfriend" will keep an eye..."
- "I don't have a boyfriend. What are you even talking about?" I cut him off.
- "Oh come on. You think that I'm blind? You clearly like him." He looks at me realizing that i really have no idea what his talking about. "You can't be this stupid." He chuckles.
- "Fuck off! What do you even mean?"
- "You have no idea about your own feelings, you're such an idiot." He shakes his head. "I'll talk to you about it later, I came to tell you something else."
- "What is it?" I sigh.
- "I've been assigned a mission, but..."
- "That's great!" I cut him off and he chuckles.
- "Thanks, but let me finish. I have to leave the village for two days and I'm leaving today."
- "Oh.. um."
- "It's not a dangerous mission, so don't worry okay. I'll be back tomorrow evening. Think you can survive a night without me?" He laughs a little and i smile at him.
- "Of course, it'll be weird though." I chuckle.
- "Yeah, tell me about it."
- "So, you leave now?"
- "Yeah." He looks at me with concern.
- "Don't look at me like that! I'll be fine." I laugh.
- "Yeah, i know, sorry." He says and we approach the gates.
- "Hey Mayumi. Long time no see." Says Kotetsu.
- "Hey." I smile at him and turn to Genma.
- "If something happens to him, I'll beat up your ass!"
- "Hello to you too." He chuckles.
- "I'm serious.."
- "Hey, stop it okay? It's an easy, C rank mission. I'll be fine." Hikaru chuckles.
- "Yeah okay." I hug him and start to walk away.
- "Hey, no hug for us?" I hear Genma chuckle.
- "Bite me!" I say laughing without turning around.

Hours have passed since Hikaru left on a mission. I'm outside my place, well at least what is my place, until the village is rebuilt. I'm deep in my thoughts worrying about tonight, I haven't told Hikaru, but I'm having some nightmares since i came back to life and they are new ones, i feel like the memories in my head are mixed and nothing makes sense. Plus I'm not used to being alone and that kinda scares me. "What I'm worrying about, it's just one night." I say to myself. I noticed Kakashi in the distance with Guy, they're having one of those weird challenges. "Is it rock, paper, scissors?" I laugh to myself. "It must've been Kakashis idea, Guy is to much energetic to choose this as a challenge." I smile looking at Kakashi and then I remember what Hikaru told me. "He's being ridiculous, just because i get along with him, doesn't mean i have feelings for him." I was lost in my thoughts when i heard Kakashis voice from beside me.
- "Are you daydreaming again?"
- "What? Wait, weren't you there?" I point at the direction he was before, only to see Guy dramatically crying and Lee trying to comfort him, but he's crying himself. "I guess you've won. Congrats."I say chuckling.
- "You were cheering for me?" He asks in a deep voice and raises an eyebrow.
- "Watching you was a good distraction, that's all." I shrug.
- "Is something bothering you?" He asks looking at me getting serious.
- "It's nothing."
- "I've been sitting here for two minutes and you didn't even noticed me." He chuckles.
- "I was just thinking about something."
- "I see you don't wanna talk about it, i came to give you this back." He hands me the pages.
- "Oh right, forgot about those."
- "You look kinda distracted, are you waiting for Hikaru?"
- "He went on a mission." I say, almost complaining, not being able to hide it.
- "That's what's bothering you." He says looking away.
- "I haven't spent night alone ever since i met him, and plus the nightmares..." i stop, I don't wanna worry him too.
- "Nightmares are back?" He asks concerned.
- "It's nothing." I say fake smiling.
- "You can talk to me." He puts his hand on my knee, but quickly removes it.
- "Every night is just chaos in my head and I don't know how to stop it." I almost cry out as my eyes got watery. Kakashi looks surprised and worried at the same time. I've never been this vulnerable in front of him before, actually I've never been like this with anyone before. he wraps his arms round me and i burry my face into his chest.
- "It's gonna be okay, if you want i can stay until he comes back." He says and i nod. There's something about him that makes me calm down, makes me feel I'll be okay. It feels safe in his arms, i smile to myself and then realize what Hikaru told me. "Crap, he was right!" I curse Hikaru in my mind.
