Chapter 24: Cutoffs.
Taylor's POV
"Tay, you texted me to come?" Ed asked, a little bit low.
"Yeah. Come in." I smiled at him, and gestured him to step inside.
"What about?" He asks, continuing his question as I close the door.
"Ed," I hold his hand, while we were sitting on the couch. "I need to know something- why'd you invite Harry?" I asked, a little bit harshly.
He sighs, slightly squeezing my hand. "I needed to, he somehow has the righ-"
"He doesn't have a right." I say firmly, having a bit of a temper, also cutting him off. "He could have anything and do whatever in his life, but not have this right." I tell him, a hint of anger in my voice.
"Tay, please, it's just the baby shower we're talking about, not life-"
"Ed! No, he cannot show up like he went on a trip from Hogwarts! I know you understand me, right?" I look into his eyes.
"Taylor," he sighs, pulling me closer into his chest, "he's hurt too, you know? Even worse than your pain. You know Harry, he easily gets affected in stuff like this, and easily gets emotional. He gets all the harsh reactions on the breakup-"
"It was never relationship." I correct him.
"You're wrong, it was a relationship. It was really beautiful even if you guys only officially lasted for a night, and we can also count those weeks that you two had a bit of a puppy love." He tells it straight to me, making every memory slap me in the face.
Silence consumes us both.
Ed was playing with his hands and looking at the clock every ten seconds.
And I was thinking of all the things he told me, letting my soul suck everything.
"And Taylor," he holds my hand again.
"I need to tell you something," he says with fear attached with his voice, "you need Harry, for many reasons." He pauses, and takes a good look at me, then looks down again as I let him speak.
"Taylor, you know that we were never a couple, we were only best friends, nothing more." He adjusts his sitting position. "And now we're parents to Tanya, which amazes me every time I think of it." Ed sighs once more, letting his thoughts go one by one. "But I can't do it, I'm not mature enough. What if when Tanya grows up, and asks us why we never married. O-or if she asks if I love you, what would I say? It's just scaring me-"
"Ed, that's in the far future, don't worry about it now." I say softly.
"I know that, but you do know that my heart belonged to Athina all along. I mean, I never actually loved you as a-"
"BUT ED I DO LOVE YOU!" I suddenly scream, not letting it in any longer.
He was silenced as he let go of my hand.
"I know that I can't do this, but I just do, Ed! You were far better than Harry, I knew that from the beginning. Even if I wanted to get back with him, there's something in you that I just can't leave-"
"Taylor, I hate to make this conversation filled with cutoffs, but he's replacing me." He said, resting his back on the couch right after.
"He's what?" I asked, shockingly.
"You heard me," he sighed, "he's taking care of you and Tanya. I just can't take this, you know? I'm too unprepared." He looked down, guilt showing on his face.
"You can't." I told him firmly.
"I can." There he stood up, rubbing bump before he left.
He left everything, everything we made, it was just cut off.
