"Katie, I've been wondering," I sat beside my best friend on the plane in our seats in First-Class. Yesterday we had finished the European leg of the tour and today we were heading home to Miami for the first time in months to see our families. The chaos at the airport in Moscow had been insane. Niall and Katie both cried, I cried, Harry, Louis, and Liam were exhausted and upset at having to say goodbye, even if it was only temporary. Niall would be flying in from London to Miami in a week to meet Katie's family, and all of the boys were going to join us in Orlando for our Disney trip in just two weeks. "How did you um..." I paused to think. "get pregnant? I know you're too smart too-"
"We didn't forget the condom, Cassidy." She rolled her eyes and laid a hand on her tummy, which was just starting to show the smallest of bumps. She was still able to hide it well under baggier clothes, for now, none of the fans had figured it out yet. "Niall thinks it broke."
"Oh." I nodded, understanding.
"You know how those flimsy things can be sometimes..." She chuckled softly before becoming concerned. "...right?"
"Well, um. Not exactly."
"Cassidy!" She whisper-shouted so that nobody else in the cabin could hear us. "You're having unprotected sex with Louis?"
"Not entirely!" I murmured back in defense. "I've got an IUD, you know that."
"Still! He's a rockstar, you don't know where he's been!"
"Katie!" I narrowed my eyes at her. "Louis does not have an STD!"
"Well, obviously you know that now. But that was still dumb of you." I rolled my eyes.
"Niall's a rockstar too, you know. There's no telling where his prick has been." I shot back angrily but instantly regretted it. Katie's eyes welled up with tears, most likely from her unbalanced hormones. "Oh, Katie," I soothed, rubbing her shoulder. "You know I didn't mean it."
"I know." She sniffled. "It's just little Lilah."
"There is no way you know you're having a girl." I snorted, teasing her.
"I can just feel it okay?" She poked her tongue out at me.
"Whatever floats your boat. When do you find out?"
"Right before Christmas. I have an ultrasound appointment for the 21st."
"That soon?" I wondered in awe. As an only child myself I never thought I would have little nieces or nephews, and Katie was as close as I had to a sister.
"Yep, three more weeks!"
"So Lilah if its a girl, what about for a boy?"
"Niall likes the name, Ollie."
When the plane touched down in MIA, our families were there to greet us at the gate. My parents rushed up to me and caught me in a tight hug as Katie's younger brother and sisters did with her, her parents and older brothers right behind them. They were a large family, six kids in total. Katie was the 3rd oldest behind her brothers Matthew and Jacob. She also had triplets for younger siblings, two girls names Abigail and Jenna, and a boy named Morgan.
I said my goodbyes to Katie for the week and we parted ways to head home. From the airport to our houses in North Miami was about an hour and my parents pestered me the entire time about Louis and 'Katie's Niall' as they called him. They wanted every detail about the boys that I could give them. My mom started asking some uncomfortable questions as my father drove and finally, I'd had enough.
"How old is he? Doesn't he already have a son? Are you sure he's not too old for you? Does he come from a good family? What's his mother and father like?" My mother pressed from the back seat as I sat up front with my dad.
I rubbed my eyes in annoyance. "He'll be 29 in a few weeks. Yes, he has a six-year-old named Freddie. No, he's not too old for me. His family are lovely people, I met his oldest sister Lottie who is about my age on tour. He doesn't have a relationship with his birth father, but his stepfather that raised him is great from what I've heard. His mother passed away a few years ago from cancer, they were really close. He also lost his younger sister Felicite about a year ago." I felt like I was being interviewed by hungry paparazzi.
"Poor kid." My dad chimed in as he pulled into the driveway. My dad carried my suitcase in as I walked with my mom to my room.
"I'm gonna call Louis and let him know I made it home safe." I shooed my mother out of my room before dialing Louis. On the third ring, he picked up.
"Hello, beautiful." I could hear the smile on his face from thousands of miles away. "How was your flight?"
"Uneventful." I chuckled, sitting down on my bed. "How was yours?"
"The same. I picked up Freddie from my Nan's house a couple of hours ago." I envied him and the boys and their 4-hour flight. Katie and I had been on a plane for 19 hours to get home from Moscow. "I have to testify for custody of him in two days." His happy tone dropped off.
"I'm sure you'll get him, Louis." I attempted to comfort my boyfriend, wishing I could be there to support him. "You're a great father. Brianna already got her sentencing. This is all about you and Freddie now."
"I love you." He answered.
"I love you too, get some sleep. I know it's nearly midnight there."
"Good night, love."
"Good night, my Prince." I cooed back before hanging up the phone and heading downstairs to have dinner with my parents.
