A/N:  Thank you for reading!  For those that are following my stories, I am going to try to wrap up Fred's perspective of The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner in this entry, that way I can get more loosely creative with my story.  I have been trying to stick to the book without rewriting the entire book.  I hope I haven't bored anyone.  Please vote and comment.  I would love feedback.  Thank you!  I hope you guys enjoy!!

Shortly after Riley bolted out under the water towards the ferry, the lights went out.  I had noticed that Raoul had began swimming after Riley as soon as Riley made it to the ferry.  I watched as everyone jetted towards the ferry.  Bree and I took our time.  I really enjoyed her company.  By the time we got to the boat, the others had began their killing frenzy.  I was able to hold back as I made my way to the vending machines.  I watched the riot as humans ran away from vampires.  I spotted Riley.  I decided, for Bree's sake, to keep an eye on him.  I did not trust Riley further than I could throw him.  My throat was burning with hunger, and the blood was tempting, but I remembered my encounter with Edward in the meadow.

I spotted Bree walking around in a slight daze, but she looked like she was looking for me.  She must have decided that I was by the vending machines, because she began walking towards me.  I smiled as soon as she stood by me, but looked back at Riley shortly after.

"Okay, kids.  You've had a taste of the sweet life, but now we've got work to do!"  Riley continued, "I've got three last things to tell you -- and one of those things involves a little dessert -- so let's sink the scow and get home!"  Bree and I decided that it was time to exit the ship, so we went out the window and watched the others demolish the ferry.  As soon as we saw the others swimming towards us, we began swimming towards the shore.

As we ran behind the others, I was battling with whether or not I should tell Bree what I know.  I would start to, but then decided that it wouldn't be good at the moment.  I continued flip flopping between telling her and not when we made it back to the house.  Everyone was still rowdy, though Riley had been trying to calm everyone down for the past few hours.  Eventually everyone quieted down and began paying attention to Riley.

Riley stood on one of the stairs and began talking, saying, "Three things.  First, we want to be sure we get the right coven.  If we accientally run across another clan and slaughter them, we'll tip our hand.  We want our enemies overconfident and unprepared.  There are two things that mark this coven, and they're pretty hard to miss.  One, they look different -- they have yellow eyes."

The others were confused.  I knew that their eyes were yellow already, because I had spoken with Edward.  I wondered what lie Riley would say about the eyes.  He continued, "There's a lot of the vampire world out there that you haven't encountered yet.  I told you these vampires were old.  Their eyes are weaker than ours -- yellowed with age. Another advantage to our side."  Ding ding ding!  I knew the lie would come out soon.  Riley continued, "But other old vampires exist, so there is another way that we'll know them for sure . . . and this is where the dessert I mentioned comes into play."  I rolled my eyes as Riley gave that sly smile of his before continuing, "This is going to be hard to process.  I don't understand it, but I've seen it for myself.  These old vampires have gone so soft that they actually keep -- as a member of their coven -- a pet human."

No one moved a muscle at this bit of information.  I had smelled the human on Edward, but didn't think much of it.  I knew that he didn't keep the human as a pet, or even as a food source.  Riley said, "I know -- hard to swallow.  But it's true.  We'll know it's definitely them because a human girl will be with them."

The leader girl spoke up, asking, "Like . . . how?  You mean they carry meals around with them or something?"  Riley answered, "No, it's always the same girl, just the one, and they don't plan to kill her.  I don't know how they manage it, or why."  I knew how they managed it, though I was curious as to why. "But I've seen her.  More than that, I've smelled her."  Riley said.  Then he reached into his jacket, a little bit too dramatically, and pulled out a ziplock bag that held a red piece of clothing.  He continued, "I've done some recon in the past few weeks, checking the yellow-eyes out as soon as they got near the area.  I watch out for my kids.  Anyway, when I could tell that they were moving on us, I grabbed this to help us track them.  I want you all to get a lock on this scent."  He passed the bag to Raoul.  Raoul took a deep smell of the fabric, looked up with a surprised look.  Riley answered his unasked question, "I know.  Amazing, right?"  The bag made it around the room.  It eventually made it's way to Bree.  She had to remind the guy beside her that she was there.
