Queen Isabella

October 11th, 1542

Do you ever wonder how your life would be if you did something different?

What if I never agreed to be the next Queen of Norway and only stood as the Queen of Denmark?

What if I didn't sign my mother's execution papers and she abdicated when I was eighteen instead of me becoming Queen at such a young age?

What if I married Bash instead of Henry?

I walked into my bed chamber and smiled softly before I pulled back my covers and climbed into my bed. As I laid down and took a deep breath and closed my eyes.

What would my life have been if anything changed?

I woke up to someone gently shaking my shoulder. I opened one eye and saw my mother leaning over me with Greer beside her.

"Why must you wake me?" I asked as I went to cover my face.

"Because told for your nineteenth birthday we are announcing your engagement to Prince Sebastion of the Netherlands." Mother said and I groaned trying to hide my blush.

"I told you that you loved him since you met," Greer said as she pulled the covers away from me and I climbed out of the bed.

"I have been Queen for a year. Why do I need a husband? You never remarried." I said as I followed Greer behind the curtain for her to dress me in a lace blue gown. As she began tying the back my mother peaked her head in.

"I loved your father and it would not be good to honor his memory to remarry." She said as she handed me my crown and Greer lowered it onto my head.

I smiled softly before looking in the mirror and nodding.

"Alright, where's Bash?" I asked as my mother as the guards opened the door and we began our journey to the throne room. As we turned the corner I saw Bash standing there in his uniform with his sword on his side.

"I'm right here my love." He said and I grinned as I broke apart from my mother and practically threw myself in Bash's arms.

He held me close to him before he broke apart and pressed a kiss to my forehead.

"Are you ready to announce our engagement?" He asked and I grinned as I laced our fingers together.

"I am. I truly am." I confessed and he smiled. As we lined up, I heard the trumpets begin to play and the doors opened.

Waiting by the thrones was Emili who smiled at me.

"Presenting Queen Isabella of Denmark, Prince Sebastion of the Netherlands, The Duchess of Telemark, and the Dowager Queen of Denmark!" Emili announced. I smiled at those who bowed to me before I got to my throne and turned around.

"My wonderful court! How much I adore seeing all of you. It is with great honor I tell you this wonderful news." I began as everyone turned towards us. I looked towards Bash who smiled and stepped up to stand beside me.

"Today I announce my engagement to Prince Sebation of the Netherlands. We will marry within two months' time."

I watched as they all stared at me before everyone broke into cheers. I blushed softly before looking to Bash who couldn't help but grin.

"When I marry Bash, he will become Prince Consort much like my father was. I thank you in advance for your support." I finished before I sat down in my throne and everyone began to line up to state their troubles.

I watched as the Ambassador for England and Wales stepped forward and bowed to me.

"Ambassador Richards, what seems to be the problem now with England and Wales?" I asked and I found my mother smirking.

"Your Majesty, may I first congratulate you on your engagement." He said and I nodded at him.

"Thank you very much. Now, what is the problem?"

"His Majesty King Henry VIII is requesting your support as he tries to divorce his second wife Anne Boylen."

"On what account is he divorcing her?"

"She has not produced a male heir in three years. And the rumor is she could be a witch."

"Hmm, he is divorcing her for the same reason he divorced my godmother Cathrine of Aragon. I truly believe his daughter Elizabeth would be an amazing Queen. Has he taken another?" I asked and I watched as Richard fought not to change his expression.

"Yes, he has. Lady Jane Seymour."

"Poor women. I feel sorry for all of those who will become involved with Henry. he will bed them and never wed them unless they produce a healthy son." I commented as I sat up and stared at him.

"Ambassador Richard, you will report back to His Majesty that I will not support him in his attempt to divorce Queen Anne Boylen. But you will also report, and take Emili with you to make sure you do, to Queen Anne and her daughter Elizabeth I shall offer them sanctuary if they need it. You are dismissed."

Richard stared at me for a moment before bowing his head and walking away from me. I shook my head before allowing the next one to step forward.

After an hour I was finally done and I went to join Bash for a walk in the garden.

"Would you offer sanctuary to Anne Boylen and her daughter?"

"Of course I would. Whoever ends up with Henry Tudor is doomed. I feel sorry for this Jane woman along with any other woman who deals with him." I confessed with a laugh.

"But that would be you." Bash said and I froze before looking at him.

"I beg your pardon?"

"You would be the woman after Jane. You made him fall in love with you when he saw you with his son, his heir." Bash said and I stared at him for a moment before looking down at my left hand and seeing a different engagement ring.

"Bash?"

I quickly woke up with a jump. I looked around my room and realized it was just a dream.

"Only just a dream."
