Chapter 7: One Great Trip.
Caitlin's POV:
The next morning, I woke up, but this wasn't just any ordinary wake up call. I felt a body holding mine. Wait, why exactly was someone holding me? I turned around to see the least expected person to be the one holding me. It was Dylan. I would have thought it was James or something. He looked like an angel sleeping. I'm going to admit, it was a pleasant sight to wake up to. As I snuggled into his chest more, his grip tightened.
After a few minutes of utter bliss, I realised what exactly was going on. I rejected him and he accepted. So why exactly was he in bed with me and not with Lucy? I quickly began to shake his arm, trying to wake him up. After about a year of trying he finally woke up. His eyes widened as he realised what position we were in.
"Why the fuck are you in bed with me?" I whisper-yelled.
"I don't know, I came to thank you for the gifts. I guess I fell asleep here." He mumbled.
A small sigh escaped my lips as I slipped out of his arms and got up. "you should go. Lucy must be waiting for you." I saw him nod, get up and leave. He didn't even glance back to see if I was okay.I quickly locked my door and went to the bathroom connected to my room, locking that door as well. Quickly stripping off, I took a warm shower.
In the shower, I thought about my life so far, how it changed and how now, my best friend's boyfriend turns out to be my mate who is also the future Alpha. Wow. That's one huge change. Just the thought of him makes me happy, but I know that I can't be with him. It would end up in Lucy getting hurt because of me - her so called 'best friend' and I wouldn't want that. Lucy's like a sister to me and if she's happy with Dylan, then so be it. I can't take that away from her, mate or not. They both love each other. Dylan's never going to feel the way he feels for Lucy for me. It's all because of the mates bond.
About 20 minutes later, I got dressed. Since it was now the first of January, I decided to wear warm clothing since it was still cold outside. I had on a Victoria Secret jumper and a pair of dark skinny jeans. Finishing off the look, I put on a pair of nude heels and combed my hair.
I smiled into the mirror, trying to persuade myself and my wolf that I will be fine. I'll survive without Dylan and he'll survive without me.
A few minutes later, I slipped out of my room and walked downstairs, flashing small smiles to everyone polite enough to greet me. Once I reached the kitchen, I saw Dylan and Lucy in between a makeout session. "Get a room." I mumbled, a small smirk curling the sides of my lips.
They quickly pulled away and Lucy jumped on me. Again. "Caitlin!" She grinned, looking at me. "Dylan and I are planning to finish off the mating process." A small gasp escaped my lips, a smile evident. "Congrats, guys. I'm happy for you." I smiled weakly at Dylan, giving him a side hug. "Hey, Trouble.. Thank you." He replied. I laughed and nodded.
"Anyways guys, I'm just gonna go out with James for a bit to chill out, wanna come?" I grinned, a gasp escaping my lips as I felt two strong arms pulling me back into a hard chest. "Yeah, want to come?" James mumbled, placing a chaste kiss on my cheek.
I looked over at Lucy and then Dylan. He was annoyed but quickly managed to cover it with a smile. "I don't mind, would you like to, Luce?" Lucy turned to face him and automatically began to nod, a grin quickly forming on her lips. "Yes!" She squealed.
Great. It's not that I don't want them there, I just didn't want to sound rude which is why I offered. I don't want to see them all attached to one another. It's just, I can't stand their affection anymore. It hurts.
"Let's go to the cinemas!" I grinned, ignoring the fact that I had to deal with all the love and affection between Dylan and Lucy. The advantage of going to the cinema is that the lighting is dim, therefore I won't have to see the happy couple all touchy feely. "Sure, babe." I shivered as James whispered in my ear.
"Yes! Dylan and I haven't been to the cinemas in about a month. It sounds fun. What do you say Dyl?" Lucy questioned. I could see Dylan furrowing his eyebrows but then shaking his head as he smiled. "Yes, that sounds great." He turned to face me once again. His blue orbs burning into my chocolate brown ones. His eyes were beautiful.
"Let's go." James spoke, cutting my thoughts off which led to my eyes diverting it's attention. James let go of my waist and grabbed my hand as we walked down the doorway. "Hurry up, you two." He called out to Dylan and Lucy as he continued to walk with me but this time out of the door and to his car.
He opened the passenger seat for me like a gentleman. I mumbled a small thank you and slid into the car, slipping on my seatbelt as he closed the door and then went to the other side and got in.
Dylan and Lucy came out shortly after, I could see his eyes locking to mine but he was quickly pulled out of it by Lucy who also walked towards James car. Dylan opened the backseat for her and she slipped in. He closed the door behind her and jogged to the other side, getting in as well.
This is gonna be one great trip. Note the sarcasm.
