Chapter 4: Mate?!

Caitlin's POV:

I groaned, grabbing my alarm clock and checking the time. Shit! It's nearly 4pm and Dylan's party is at 9! Told you I never wake up early and if I do, it never lasts. I quickly got up, grabbing a towel and some random pair of clothing and undergarments as I strutted into the bathroom, taking a quick shower.

After my shower, I dried my hair and decided to straighten it. Grabbing my straightener, I plugged it into the socket and patiently waited for it to beep so I would know that it was ready. After about 10 years of waiting, it was done. Well, it felt like ten years when it was actually 50 seconds, but hey! I only had about 50 minutes to get ready, I think. I quickly checked the clock and sighed in relief, realising I was right.

I grabbed my straightener and grabbed a small section of hair, running my straightener threw it about three times and repeating the process for the rest of hair around my head.

Once I was done, I checked the time once again and saw I had about thirty minutes left! I'm screwed! I groaned, quickly grabbing my makeup pallet, applying a light, neutral eyeshadow and a darker shade on the creases, quickly grabbing a light pink blusher and those soft, fluffy brushes. I made the fish face and slowly dabbed the blush on my cheeks and my cheekbones, blending it out properly and equally. I then grabbed my liquid eyeliner and mascara, slowly applying the eyeliner, making sure to add a wing at the end and then applying my mascara to both the top and bottom lashes. For the lips, I decided to grab a blueberry flavoured lip balm shaded in a light pink, quickly applying it and looking at my make up and hair, I grinned. Perfect.

I then realised something, I forgot to find my outfit! Quickly turning to the clock, I sighed in relief when I saw I had ten minutes left. Quickly rushing over to my closet, I looked through all my dresses. I hate dresses but I'm forced to wear one for today. Great. I groaned, unable to find anything suitable until a dress right at the end caught my eye. A beautiful black dress with cuts on the sides to show my curves off.

I quickly stripped and slipped them on, picking up a pair of black high heels and also slipping them on, looking into my full length mirror. I looked girly. Wow. That's a shocker. Quickly grabbing my phone from the desk, I grinned, yes I had one more minute!

I quickly opened my door and walked downstairs. The party was on about a block away so I walked down the stairs, looking around to find there was no one other than me in the pack house. Quickly opening and locking the door behind me, I walked to the building. It was a large hall and had music blasting. Well there goes my sense of hearing. Fantastic. I rolled my eyes as I walked inside, groaning as everyone took in my appearance. Yeah, I'm wearing a dress. So what?

I walked around, looking for the very few people I actually liked. I smiled when I saw Lucy and Dylan sharing a small kiss and decided to not disturb them, bumping into James. I smiled wider as he took my hand and led me to the dance floor. We danced for what felt like days but only ended up being an hour. Don't get me wrong, James is a nice male and an even better Beta, I mean, he started to take his position so seriously since a month ago. He's only 16 and already so serious about his future position. You can always see a glint in his eye when he talks about completing a job which was related to his future position and lifestyle. He's an amazing person and I'm glad that I've gotten to know him so well, but he isn't the one for me. I know it for a fact, he has his soulmate out there somewhere and I have mine, but I just don't feel the need to lead him, out of all people on so I'll stay with him for a while. He hasn't done anything at all to hurt me, he's always been there for me, even before we were together so I don't get why I should hurt him. You know, maybe I could finally fall in love with him. He's smart, athletic, talented and treats me well which should be all that matters right? So I decided to crash my lips against his and knew that for once, I myself feel like I should change for the better. And that person who could help me be the best and could help me forget about the only person I fell in love with in the past is James. He can be my future. He can hold me, protect me and love me. Something I've actually wanted to experience. "You know, you mean so much to me, James." I smiled, looking at him as I told him how I felt. I could fell the shock radiate from him because he knew I had never actually said that to any other man before. "You mean the world to me too, Cait." He pulled me into a tight embrace. I sighed in content and hugged him back. For once, I felt happy and as if I could be loved but better yet, I could finally love the right one.

After a while, I decided to talk to more people, but was luckily called by Lucy to give Dylan some company since she had to go to the bathroom. Yay, I don't have to socialise with people. I slowly walked over to Dylan as I saw Lucy leave, sending me a quick smile as she entered the bathroom.

"Hey, Dyl!" I placed a hand on his shoulder and a small gasp escaped my lips. It all happened in slow motion. He slowly turned around, looking down into my eyes and whispering that one word which made my heart skip a beat. "Mate." He looked into my eyes lovingly. "Mate." My wolf replied. I could sense her joy that she had finally found her soulmate.
