Chapter 14: Dinner.

Dylan's POV:

It had been twenty minutes since dinner started. Everyone in the pack house was present and sitting. Everyone but one person and that was Caitlin. As everyone dug into their meals which the ladies in the pack had made I kindly got up and excused myself, telling everyone present to continue eating and enjoying there meal as they should. There were many dishes and different varieties present on the table and it's not like Caitlin to miss dinner. She loves food. She loves to eat food and learn how to cook. That's one thing most people didn't know about her. She always was interested in cooking, ever since she was little.

-FLASHBACK-

It had been a few days after my fourteenth birthday, and I hadn't seen Caitlin all day, looking around for my best friend.
"Caitlin!" I called out, sighing as I looked around.
I had searched nearly every single room and floor so far. I was about to open the door of one of the rooms until I heard her voice call back.

"In the kitchen!" She yelled out.
I raised an eyebrow and ran down the stairs and into the kitchen, watching her place a final batch of finished and cooked cookies.
"You cook?" I questioned, smiling.
"Yup." She mumbled softly and carefully took out each cookie and placed them onto a plate. "You should try one." She grabbed one of the cookies and took a bite from it.
I looked at her and nodded, looking down at the try and then grabbing a double chocolate chip cookie, taking a large bite from the small cookie. A moan escaping my lips as a grin made its way.

"Damn, that's pretty good." I nodded and continued to eat the cookie, taking one of the plates filled with about fifteen cookies from her.
"Thanks. I didn't know you'd like them that much. Be sure not to eat a lot because knowing you, you'll end up getting sick and then I'll get into trouble." She laughed softly, playfully rolling her eyes.
I sat down on a stool and picked her up, placing her down on the table in front of me. Smiling wider once she rested her legs on my lap. "I won't."
She nodded and took another cookie.

-END OF FLASHBACK-

I grinned at the thought, shaking my head and then making my way up the stairs, walking up three flights of stairs and then down a long corridor, I began to look for her room. Once I found it, I knocked on the door carefully and waited outside her door patiently. I didn't hear a response, raising an eyebrow and knocking once again.
"Caitlin, it's time for dinner." I called out, sighing softly.
That's when I was suspicious. She didn't respond or run towards the door to open it like she usually would at the mention of food. I tried to twist the knob open but was confused when it instantly opened. Walking into the room, I looked around, realising that half of her things were missing.

I then realised that she left two notes on the bed, one addressed to the pack and the other addressed to me. Picking up the one which was addressed to the pack first, I read the note to myself.

'Dear members of the pack house,

All of you were so good to me and I honestly know that if I thanked you, it wouldn't fully express all my gratitude. No amount of thank you's would express how much I love you all and how grateful I am for having a family like you. I've spent my whole life here, not once feeling left out or as though I shouldn't be here. I love how all of you accept every single person present here, not judging them for their actions and kindly forgiving one another. That's what a family does and I'm glad I've been apart of something this special.

I had to leave. It's not because of any of you, I promise, it's just that I have a different destiny and I need to fulfil whatever destiny and paths I have which have been opened to me. Trust me, this is honestly so hard for me because each and every single one of you here are special and amazing but I need to do this. I'm moving. I know if I told you this in person, I'd end up staying and that can't happen, I know I'd end up staying. I love you all, be sure to smile and just know that this is only the end of a chapter, not the book and we'll end up reuniting anyway.
