Today was the day of their match, Kyo got up early as usual and followed her normal routine but did dress up a little, 'hey can't blame her for wanting to look good'. She decided to save her energy and walked towards their meeting point, taking her katana out of its hidden spot on her way. She was ready for the fight she was excited, to say the least. It's not every day you get to dual with the leader of the village and she would get a chance to get to know him better. The way a person fights says a lot about them.
She reached the spot to see he was already there, ready and set, waiting for her. She decided to sneak up to him and try to scare him. Just as she was about to shout from behind him to startle him, he lazily said, "You sure took your time getting here" turning around to see her frozen to her stop, she flashed him an innocent smile as if she was not sneaking up at him just now. Yami stared her with a raised brow and chuckled at the expression. Her brow twitched slightly embarrassed and slightly annoyed. This is not how the mates usually greet each other but then she remembered they both were anything but normal. He was the future leader of the village and she was an orphan girl who can wield a katana.
"Ready?" She said taking out her katana and taking her stance while Yami just stood taking in her stance, her eyes focused on him taking in every move and trying to read his intentions. Yami was enjoying this a lot, she was looking cute with her eyes narrowed in focus. It was kind of funny, she was very serious about this fight and she didn't look like she was messing around. She really did want to win.
He decided to attack first, he moved forward his stance was low while she kept hers high. She decided to go defensive first to get to know his moves and good she did because she was surprised by his moves, though it looked like he was not really into it but she was having a hard time trying to keep up. 'maybe this is what happens when you practice alone.' she thought grumpily. Yami was smirking as he continued with his rapid attacks making her struggle to keep up with it. He had been watching her practice for a long time so he had that advantage over her but she didn't know that. But he intents to use that against her fully, just to test her limit since he had never seen women in his village use katana or any sort of weapon. Once there was a time when that was a very common thing here but for many years this village has become a peaceful agricultural village instead of warrior one.
Kyo really didn't wish to lose and also wanted to see if Yami would react to her, just as he was overpowering her she disappeared from in front of him in bright light. Yami was shocked for a brief moment before laughing and turned around to defend himself from her incoming attack. Yami should have known that his other half would be anything but ordinary, being a warrior was one thing but being able to do magic was whole another level of unusual. But with her magic influenced moves, it started to get harder to keep up with her. Yami decided to bring out his ace as well.
Kyo looked at Yami as the dark magic began to surround him, she prepared herself to defend ' the real fight starts now' she smirked at him. It was such a play by destiny, a light magic user and a dark magic user to be put together. She was glad that he was a magic user, at least he won't get scared of her. Well, honestly, he was the scary one but to be fair she can be scary when needed to be. Yami began to overpower her, she struggled to keep defending herself. Yami felt confident of his victory. He was so sure of it, he watched her struggle to gain control of the match when they locked sword but when they got close enough she looked at him a smirked. In a blink of an eye, she was gone! He concentrated on her ki to block her attack but it was near impossible and also because she was intentionally trying not to harm him.
Tables turned quickly on him, one minute he was sure of his victory and the next she was the one leading the match. She used her magic to keep her attacks fast as light, Yami managed to get their sword locked when she hooked her leg behind his knee and tripped him. She kept her knee on his chest and sword pointed to his neck while using her other arm to pin his hands down.
"I win" She smiled, looking down at him.
Looking up at her, smiling at her victory, She kicked his butt there was no denying it but he won't give up so fast. One of these days he'll get back to her. He will just have to find a way to deal with her light magic. It was opposite of his and it was fast, swift and bright but that doesn't mean he is going to give up. He got up and dusted off the sand from him, Kyo was grinning widely at her victory. He just shook his head at her laughing and said, "Well, would the winner honour me by having lunch with me?"
Kyo then noticed that it was in fact, lunchtime, they had been fighting for all morning!! Well, she won! So it's okay, she nodded happily and took his arm as she started to walk towards. Yami pulled her back, giving her a peck on the cheek before leading her towards the dinner. Kyo simply followed as he pulled her along in a daze.
