"Hey guys over here!"
"Hey pass it!"
"Come on! Do something with the puck!"
Banks was continuously yelling and slamming his stick on the ice to signal he was ready for the pass. The Ducks had heard him and were well aware he was open, but they refused to allow him the puck. They didn't just do that with Adam, they did it with Willow too. The only difference was that Willow wasn't on a line with Jesse, which meant she had the puck more frequently than Adam -- even with Karp continuously taking the puck right off her stick. It took Coach Bombay yelling across the ice at the petty players for them to finally give up and pass to Adam.
Right after he got ahold of the puck, he scored; anyone who knew how wicked Adam's hockey skills were would have suspected as much. When he skated up to the bench, Willow excitedly punched his shoulder, congratulating him on scoring. Adam scoring had dug the other players out from whatever idiotic reluctance they were in, causing the team to integrate the ex-Hawks players into the plays more often.
The ducks had been destroying their opponent the entire game -- not just because Adam or Willow. Last time the two Hawk players had seen the group of kids play, they could barely stand on the ice for 20 seconds before falling and they certainly couldn't make or block goals. Though, now, they were steadily climbing their way towards the championship games. In fact, all they had to do was win this game, then they'd officially be competing in championship games.
Willow wondered what it would be like to win a championship with a team like the Ducks. They'd probably host some big party, one Willow hoped she'd be invited to. She wanted the Ducks to win against the Hawks in the championship game, not because she was on the team and not ready to let go of winning yet -- although that's not totally wrong -- but because they deserved it more.
Willow hadn't realized the space next to her on the bench had been filled, too spaced out, staring at the game without paying attention to it. The boy sat there for a few moments wondering whether or not to introduce himself to the girl next to him.
"Like the team so far?" The boy, gathering his courage, finally questioned her.
Willow looked to her right to see who had spoken; when she saw the boy, her brows furrowed. The blonde boys voice was, somehow, familiar to the girl. The boy was sweaty -- obviously having just come off from a shift -- and slightly flushed red from exertion. His blonde hair was on the longer side, curling out from under his helmet; he had blue eyes, ones that Willow thought were quite pretty.
"Uh... yeah," Willow answered, turning back to the game, "just wished you guys would have at least tried to be more welcoming." She didn't expect them to be nice, especially not to Adam, but she had a feeling that this whole rivalry thing was going to be drawn out way longer than it should have been.
The boy scoffed, "that's coming from a former Hawk."
Willow understood, but she -- unlike the other delinquents of the Hawks -- did not take pride in being a spoiled douche. "Well, in this Hawks defense, I never did or said anything cruel to the team."
The player shrugged, "fair." The boy took his hand out of the its glove and smiled, "I'm Guy Germaine." Willow looked down at his hand for a second before smiling.
She slipped off her glove and took Guy's hand, "Willow Pearson."
"The guys are as nice as they can be right now," Guy said taking back his hand. "They'll come around." Right as he ended, Averman hopped onto the bench yelling for Willow to take his place. She hastily got up and jumped onto the ice.
