Ianto's POV

This new information came as a shock to me. Who knows what this alien can do to me! What it will do. How long with this thing be inside me? And to say I'm not afraid would be a lie. Honestly, I'm terrified.

Gwen returned with a glass of water and I gladly took it. My head felt light but the water helped a bit with that.

"Can you get it out? With surgery or something?" I ask. Owen silently shakes his head in reply. "I'll just loose my memory then, right?"

"Unless it manages to cheer you up again," Gwen says.

I look over to Jack with sad eyes, he's the only one who might understand. I probably won't be happy again. Not with Lisa gone. Jack looks right back at me, his eyes not leaving my face. I look away from him and down at my hand. No string. Not red nor blue. Nothing.

"The only thing we can do is wait," said Jack after a few moments of silence. I keep my eyes on the ground as one by one, Tosh, Gwen and Jack leave Owen and I alone to do some more tests. Owen doesn't talk to me much as he does the tests on me and I don't mind that.

Before long, I'm back on my feet and ready to start the day officially. And because it's still early (even though everyone wants coffee no matter the time), I make everyone coffees.

As the day goes on, I can't help but wonder about that blue string that had showed up. Tosh had said that the Sentifract, as I was told the alien was called, could create illusions. That explained why Lisa showed up and everything. But why a string like that? If this alien knew I wanted a soulmate why not make it red like normally?

Maybe the Sentifract was colorblind!

No. That's not it. Heh.

About half past noon, we get a call from the police stating there was a skeletal body found just outside of Cardiff. Jack, Gwen, Owen and Tosh were out the door the second the police hung up. They left me alone saying to call if I needed anything or was feeling somewhat out of the ordinary.

Just like that, I was alone again.

Jack's POV

Owen drives as we make our way out to where a skeleton had been discovered. The police had said there was something with the skeleton that looked odd and suspicious. They decided to have us check it out.  And so we did.

The drive out was about ten minutes long because we were speeding. Who knows what object had been discovered as well as the skeleton. When we made it to the area where the skeleton was found, we all got out.

There were already dozens of police cars parked around the space. Policemen spoke with eachother and with anyone who was passing by. An officer showed us to the skeleton once we told him who we were.

The police officer showed us to a tent that was surrounded by caution tape. Once inside, the officer gave a bit of information to us.

"We were just told about this earlier today when a young woman and her boyfriend came across it while on a hike. They panicked and called us. When we arrived, we found this with the skeleton," the officer pointed to a weirdly shaped, rusted object.

"Great, we'll take it from here," I say, excusing the officer and allowing us to be alone. Owen went right over to the skeleton and kneeled down to start examining. I go over to the rusting item that was half buried in dirt.
