Detention

 I don’t think I do. I don’t get that tingly feeling that people get every time I’m around him nor do I get butterflies in my stomach. I love him but just not in that way and I don’t think Jayden has any feelings for me.

“Cammy. Have you finished your daydream?” Mrs Renner asked. I quickly snapped back into reality and looked up to see her glaring at me.

“Uh, yes Mrs Renner. Thank you for asking,” I immediately said. Wait, holy crap! Why the hell did I just say that?

“Well you can tell me all about your dream in detention this afternoon,” some people snickered as I sighed. Oh great.

School ended and I saw Jayden standing at my locker wearing one of his beanies.

“Hey Jay Jay, I can’t walk home today with you because I’ve got an afternoon detention to attend to,” I said.

“What? Why?” he asked looking worried.

“Because I was daydreaming in class,” I said sticking my tongue out before frowning.

“Oh okay. Do you want me to wait for you?” he asked. I shook my head.

“That’s okay. Go home Jayden, I’ll be fine,” I said giving him a hug and walking towards the detention room. I sat down right at the back corner of the room and pulled my ipod out, playing some Coldplay. This is my second time in detention throughout my entire high school life.

The first time was because I punched some guy called Michael because he called Jayden a fucking c**t and punched him in the face just because Jayden accidentally spilt orange juice on his shirt. Being the great friend I am, punched Michael back for Jayden, earning me a detention.

The door opened and I was expecting it to be a teacher but nope, it was none other than the rebel child of the school, Lucas. Lucas Athus was probably the dorkiest and most annoying guy on the planet besides Michael. He had long brown hair that went up to his shoulders and he was already growing beard. Ew.

Mrs Renner arrived and wrote on the board in block letters ‘DETENTION’.

“I’ll be back in an hour and I’ll be locking the door so don’t even think about leaving,” she warned and walked back out. Oh great, I’m going to be stuck in the same room as Lucas.

“Hey!” Lucas shouted out and threw a piece of paper at me. I turned to glare at him before he gestured to read the paper. I opened the crumpled piece of paper and started reading it.

Have you done it yet?

This guy has such a dirty mind. I turned around and shook my head.

“Well do you want to do it?” he asked.

“Hell no! I’m not giving my virginity away to some creep,” I snapped. Who the hell does he think he is?

After an hour past of awkward silence, we were finally let out. I grabbed my things and immediately ran out of the door, getting away from that creep. I crashed right into someone on the way out and I just saw the familiar beanie as I landed on top of him.

“I’m so sorry Jayden!” I panicked and got off him immediately, pulling him up.

“That’s alright. You seemed like you were running away from something,” he said looking concerned.

“Well I was but anyways, what are you doing here?” I asked looking confused.

“I know you told me to go home but I stayed so you didn’t need to walk home by yourself,” he grinned.

“Are you sure it wasn’t the other way around Jayden? Are you sure that you didn’t want to walk home by yourself?” I smirked. He laughed.

“No, I’m pretty sure I didn’t want you to walk home by yourself because I don’t want you to get kidnaped or raped,” Jayden explained. I roll my eyes.

“Jayden, they only victimise pretty girls and I’m not pretty so I’ll be fine walking home by myself,” I replied starting to walk home. Jayden caught up with me and flung his arm around my shoulder.

“But you are pretty Cammy. Why can’t you see that?”

I don’t know. Maybe because I’m not?
