I woke up to banging on my door. I lifted my head and realized that I had fallen asleep in the same position that I ended up in last night. I got up and opened the door. I saw a pissed off Judas outside.
"It's almost 1 in the afternoon, we need to start working now or we will miss the deadline," he said almost yelling. My head was pounding from last night and the banging and screaming weren't helping my case.
"I'm not feeling good today, can we just do your work?" I said hoping Judas wouldn't get too mad.
"L the deadline we need to meet it or else-"
"Lucifer is my dad trust me I can miss the deadline for a day!! I'll do double tomorrow," I said almost yelling back at him.
"Fine, but when your dad asks why you're so weak..." Judas started saying.
"I'll explain it to him," I said ignoring Judas.
We left the house and started walking to a new restaurant that Judas wanted to try, the whole way there he was causing different sins. I ignored him for most of the way. My head was hurting too much to concentrate on anything he was doing or saying. Then we passed another apartment building, immediately the atmosphere changed, I stopped in front of it and instantly knew what was going on.
"Jessie?" I whispered under my breath.
"Lil, you ok?" I heard Judas jogging up to me.
"Yeah, my head is killing me, let's keep going," I said staring at the building.
"Ok, we are almost there."
We continued walking for a few more blocks until we reached the restaurant.
The whole time we were eating I was thinking about what Judas had said. About telling my dad that I'm weak. I don't like to believe that but I know it's true. I put on a brave front but deep down I am horrified about tonight. Should I even show up at the bench? I was terrified of what might happen. Of finding out who Jessie really is.
I barely ate anything for lunch, we made our way back to the apartment and I ran into my room and got on my computer. I spent hours there playing games and watching movies. The second the clock hit 12 AM I rushed back down the stairs and made my way to the bench. I saw Jessie sitting there, I would feel her aura so I am sure she could also feel mine. But then I felt something else. I saw Jessie turn around and motion me to sit with her. As I walked up to the bench I could feel that other energy stronger than before. I stopped myself before sitting.
"Throw the holy water away," I said looking at her other hand. I saw her face turn red and saw her bring up a small glass bottle. She chucked it a few feet away and I saw it burst and dissolve into the Earth.
"You were going to kill me?" I said now shaking.
"No, no, it was for precaution. Don't tell me you didn't think about it?" She said, trying to defend herself.
To prove it I emptied all of my pockets out and showed her that I had nothing.
"It was the last thing on my mind," I said angrily. "You know I'm starting to think that this whole thing was a mistake," I started saying while turning away.
"No please, I'm sorry," Jessie said, grabbing my hand and sending the same jolt through my body making me shudder again.
"Please stay, I promise there is nothing else."
Something about the way she spoke instantly convinced me to turn back and sit next to her. What was this power she had over me?
I hated it.
"So, who are you?" I asked without hesitation.
I saw Jessie pause for a second before answering.
"I am an angel who came down from heaven just about 3 days ago, I was instructed to stay here creating life and fulfilling miracles for humans, that includes reviving those who had just died, curing different illnesses, helping people in their goal of having children, making people fall in love with each other by filling them with love, and having people propose with a burst of emotion," Jessie said happily.
I recoiled at the confirmation of what she was. I was this close to an angel that didn't immediately try to kill me. I asked her the only other question I needed to know.
"Who are your parents?" I asked her.
I saw her face go pale.
"How about this? We meet here every day, and we are allowed one question per day. You already used yours. Makes it more interesting for both of us," she said quickly.
I was angry about that because that meant I had to see her more than I wanted to.
"Fine," I said knowing this was the only way she would answer any of my questions. We shook hands and we both felt the same jolt once again. This is starting to get boring.
No, it's not.
"So what is your question for me?" I asked her after a while.
"I guess, the same thing you asked me. Who are you?" She asked with the same smile that always made me want to smile.
I looked down and let out a small chuckle.
"The exact opposite from you, I am a Devil from Hell who was sent a few days ago, my job is to essentially kill people so that Hell can have more souls. I go around to hospitals and cause different kinds of death, cancer, heart attacks, car accidents, and so forth. My friend is a Demon who was sent to cause people to commit sins so that when they die they go to Hell," I said without stopping.
I could see that Jessie was caught off guard. After a small silence, Jessie finally spoke.
"So who are your parents?" She asked.
"You already used your question for today. You will find out tomorrow," I said teasing her.
"Hey, that isn't fair," Jessie said, complaining.
"Life isn't fair now is it, Angel," the second I called her that my heart skipped a beat and my hands started sweating.
"Don't call me that," I hear Jessie saying playing around.
"Yeah, I regretted it the second I said it," I said, feeling a blush coming up. I managed to hold it down before Jessie noticed.
"Anyways, you made a deal with a Devil, you can't just break that unless you made a blood oath and I don't know if you really want to do that, it's a whole process. You have to recite words to Satan and a whole thing," I said naturally.
"Does it have to be to Satan?" Jessie asked.
I refused to answer. I could tell that this had bothered her.
"I need to get back to my apartment," she said after a few minutes.
"I'll go with you, we could have a good time," I said winking at her.
"No," she said instantly.
I watched her walk away and wondered why I spoke to her like that. Maybe it was because I am a Devil and the seven sins come naturally to me. I guess that was lust. I ended up going home a few minutes later and crashing on my bed.
