The Big Apple

I woke up the next day and bolted out of bed. I went right to my bathroom, showered, changed and fixed my hair. I love my short jet black hair, although I have always wanted to dye it. My mom doesn't let me because she doesn't like it. She did let me cut it though when I was little, so now I have a fade. Although I'm thinking about dyeing it as a celebration for my first day on Earth.

I finished packing my bag and grabbed the credit card out of my nightstand drawer, I stuffed it in my pocket and grabbed my suitcase with all my clothes and my bag with a bunch of my electronics. I left my room and went downstairs.

"There she is, the girl of the hour," I heard my dad say when I arrived at the kitchen.

My mom was making waffles and getting the coffee ready when I got there, she gave me a cup of coffee and I started drinking it. My dad was sitting next to me in his usual outfit, a pure black suit, his black hair almost glistened from all the gel he puts in it every day. Being Lucifer he gave off an aura that no one else did, I could sense it but I am used to it now. My dad is very tall and intimidating, but he also has a soft side to him that he only shows my mom and me.

"So, you have all of your stuff packed up? The apartment is stocked up with food and drinks. Did you get the credit card too?" My dad asked.

"Yeah, I got everything," I said eating the waffles my mom handed me.

"There's nothing like reaping your first soul," my mom said, walking back to the coffee pot.

"I remember my first, it was this kid who had cancer, he was in a lot of pain and I put him out of it," my dad said, sounding proud of himself.

"Mine was a car accident," my mom said laughing.

"I hope mine is also memorable," I said, finishing up my waffles.

"It always is," my dad said.

"Oh, I almost forgot, we have something for you," my mom said opening a drawer in the kitchen.

She pulled out a beautiful obsidian necklace. It had a black string with an obsidian Satanic cross hanging from it.

"Wow, it's gorgeous, thanks mom," I said putting it on.

"Alright I'm going to Judas' place, from there we're walking to the ferry. I'll call you guys when I get there."

"Ok, have fun Lily, remember to watch out for angels," my dad called after me as I left.

I walked down the street for about 2 miles until I got to Judas' house. We have always lived pretty close to each other so getting to each other's houses was never a problem. When Judas first moved to his current house it took me a while to get used to the walk but now it's more of a breeze.

I got there and opened the door with the spare key Judas gave me a while ago. I saw him and his family sitting at the table with his family. They were all eating, I walked in and sat myself down on the chair across from Judas.

"Hey Lily, do you want some breakfast," I heard his mom ask me.

"No thank you, I ate at home," I said politely.

"Ok, well me and Lily have to go, we don't want to miss the boat," Judas said in a hurry. I saw him run into the living room and grab two bags. He came back into the kitchen and we both left his house.

"FREEDOM," he yelled the second we were far enough. I laughed and we continued walking to the port. It's not that far, probably a mile and a half away from his house. We arrived there and saw the ferry that takes us up to the Hudson River, there were already a bunch of people on the boat and even more were still coming.

"Good thing there is still some space," I said looking at the line to get on the boat.

"Trust me even if there wasn't any space they would make some for you and me, Lucifer and Lilith's daughter and Judas' son. They will make room," Judas said excitedly.

I was honestly ready to go somewhere where I am considered a no one. I hate living under my parents' shadow, everyone is terrified of being my friend and that's why my only friend is Judas. But at least I have someone.

We got on the boat and waited to leave, after a few minutes I felt the boat moving and after a long nap, we finally arrived in the Hudson River. I felt the boat park and Judas and I got off, we walked down the street for a little before finding a taxi and telling him to pull over. We got in and told him where to go. We drove for a few minutes until we were in the heart of New York City. My dad said he got us a luxury apartment on the Upper West Side. The taxi dropped us off in front of a huge building.

"It should be on the top floor," I said looking at the paper my dad gave me.

"Alright let's go," Judas said, opening the door and signaling for me to go inside.

We went in and went right to the elevator, we watched as the numbers kept ticking up until we reached the top floor. We stepped out and went to the apartment number my dad told me. We got there and opened the door to the most beautiful apartment I have ever seen. It was white with all black furniture, there was a massive couch in the middle of it pointing towards a TV on the wall. The kitchen was on the right of the entrance, it had a pure obsidian island with a countertop surrounding it, there was a stainless steel fridge, freezer, and dishwasher. Past the kitchen and on the right there was a small room for laundry. When we walked in we noticed there were two rooms, one on the left side of the TV and one on the right. I went into the room on the left and opened the door, the room itself was amazing. It was huge, with a desk and chair, and a bathroom on the left, and on the right there was a bed that was pushed against the wall with a nightstand next to it, on the wall next to the door there was another massive TV. I walked in and put my bags down. I heard Judas yell from his room.

"This is amazing!!!"

I laughed and slumped on my bed, I heard Judas come in and felt him punch my arm.

"Ow," I said getting up and rubbing where he punched me.

"We have shit to do including our jobs," he said.

"Tomorrow, I'm too tired for today," I said, complaining.

"We have done nothing today," he said, trying to convince me to go.

"Oh no, I'm falling asleep I can't hear you," I said pretending like I wasn't listening.

"Fine, but tomorrow at first light we start," he said, punching me again.

"We could also start once you get that stick that's lodged up your ass out," I said jokingly.

"I'm too tired," he responded, also joking.

I ended up falling asleep way faster than I thought I would. All I could think about was exploring everything tomorrow, and doing my job to the best of my ability.
