The Tribrid

Chapter 3

Few days later...

I was still in my wolf form as I searched along the shore of the ocean for my mom who was still no where to be found. I refused to believe that the necklace took my mom's soul. I noticed that there were no humans around today. Probably because it was pouring. I'm not scared of rain until it started thundering. I'm scared of lightning and thunder so I decided to run back to the burrow that my mom placed me in before she left. I whimpered as I fell asleep

When I woke up I heard footsteps coming my way. Getting louder and louder. I started whining and fussing as soon as I felt something grab the scruff of my neck. I was scared until I came face to face with a strange dog I've never seen before. She had orange fur and an orange tail but with white at the end of it. I could tell that she was an adult because she was a lot bigger than me. I thought to myself, I hope this dog kills me so I can reunite with my mom. Mom I really miss you, please come back. As I was thinking this a sweet voice snapped me out of my thoughts

"Hey are you alright?" The dog with orange fur said. "I knew I caught the scent of a baby wolf but I thought I was mistaken because wolves are extinct round' these parts"

I got up and smelled her. She didn't smell like a dog or a wolf. "Are you a dog or a wolf?" I spoke as the strange creature started laughing. "What's so funny?"

"You are!" She replied. "You act you've never seen a fox before.

"Because I haven't?" I said with a shy voice.

"Oh well where are you from?" She said.

"Obviously the hole in the ground over there" I said looking at the burrow.

"Where did you actually come from and where are your parents? This is no place for a young pup such as yourself" she said with a beautiful country accent.

I spoke up to her. "I came from the ocean, I don't have a dad and my mom disappeared a few days ago". She started laughing again

"I'm sorry but your story is unbelievable. You expect me to believe you came out of the ocean? Your a wolf! Wolves can't breath underwater". She said rolling over in laughter.

"Well i didn't expect you to believe me anyway! Just leave me alone" I said sadly and went back into my burrow. I heard her sigh and walk away. Then the next thing I new I could here her yipping in pain for someone to help her. I quickly got out of my burrow to see two humans who have a leash rapped around the the fox's neck.

They were trying to get her into a cage on their boat and I heard one of the day "we hit the jackpot! We could make a lot of money by selling this beauty!" They are trying to sell her? Oh Hell No! I quickly ran with my stubby, little legs and looked the two men straight in the eyes. "Oh look here!" One of them said " We found ourselves a baby wolf. I thought a fox was good but a wolf would be even better, especially a puppy!" The other one said.

One of them reached out to grab me. I could feel my heart beating fast against my chest. Then I remembered my power. I planted both of my paws firmly on the ground in a position that showed that I was trying to be protective. I took in a deep breath and connected my mermaid part with my wolf part and used my sonic scream as loud as I could until the humans and their boat flew into the air and out of sight. Oh no! That scream took too much energy.

I collapsed and I saw the fox come up to me and she asked "what are you?" As she said these words I blacked out.

When I woke up, I was in a comfortable den with a pile of leaves on me that kept me warm. I then saw the fox come up to me "I'm glad your awake! I just wanted to say thank you for saving me! I also forgot to introduce myself back there but my name is Claudia and I am a fox. What is your name and I hope you don't mind me asking but what exactly are you?"

I spoke in a gentle voice and said "my name is Sierra. I am a tribrid. Before my mom disappeared, she gave me the power to turn into a wolf, mermaid, and a raven. I also have a human form but I never used nor have I used my pheonix form. When I told you earlier that I came from the ocean, that's because I was originally a mermaid before before I  was given this power."

"Interesting, I never met someone like you. I think we will make great friends!" She said as she walked towards the entrance to her den. "C'mon I'll show you how to hunt."

"Okay" I replied following after her. Mom I miss you but something tells me that Claudia will take good care of me and I trust her.
