Cason kept his eyes squeezed shut, offering the occasional answer to Natalie's questions about where she was supposed to be going. He tried to sleep, but the back of his eyelids exploded in soft blue light. He gently opened his eyes as he felt two pairs of strong arms pull him through what felt like a pool of silk. His vision cleared to see two figures above him. His fur was dry, though thee surface he was on was soaking wet.

"Cason? Cason! Are you okay?"

"No! He used the damn vial again." His vision cleared to see a fedora-wearing, shirtless cheetah standing over him. "Do you ever listen, you dummy?!"

The other one, a tigress wearing a crop top and sweats, gently picked up the confused dog. "Be nice Jarrod. He was going through a sick spell again." She gave him the side-eye. "Why are you shirtless?"

Jarrod shrugged, "I don't know! It's his drug-induced dream, not mine!"

The tigress rolled her eyes. "Or maybe you didn't wear a shirt so often that he has your abs seared to his brain."

Jarrod chuckled, "Can you blame him, Mikayla? I am frickin gorgeous."

Mikayla growled to himself. "I can't believe he found you attractive."

Cason tried to speak, but it only came out as a croak. He was dreaming. They were dead. He could feel the warmth of Mikayla's body envelop him though... How could this be a dream? He knew it was, but he was always stunned at how realistic everything was. He could see a clear blue sky above him. He could see palm trees above his head, and felt the coarse sand scratch his paws.

Mikayla gently rocked him. "Don't try to speak yet. You are still in really bad shape."

Jarrod growled. "Why do you get all the physical contact?"

Mikayla glared at Jarrod, "Because I actually dated him. You didn't."

Cason weakly raised a finger to emphasize the druggy dream version of his girlfriend was right.

Jarrod grumbled, "Sure. But you realize everything we're saying is based on his thoughts right?"

Mikayla glared at him. "Good. Because he knows how much I do not like you."

Jarrod grinned, "Feelings mutual."

Cason opened his mouth. "Please don't fight."

Mikayla smiled down at him. "Sorry, Cason. You must be so confused."

Jarrod nodded as Mikayla set Cason back on the floor and sat next to him. "The drug is messing with your mind. And you know we have told you to not use your powers so grandly like that."

Cason rubbed his head. "My head hurts..."

Mikayla sat on the other side of him. "I can imagine."

Cason looked down at his paws. "I had to help Natalie."

Mikayla nodded, "We know. She looks cute."

Jarrod nodded and nudged him. "You thinking about replacing us with a human?"

Cason growled a little. "NO!" His nose twitched. "She's my friend and she is not a human!"

Mikayla grinned, "You do realize we are just reflections of your thoughts right. Little doggie has a crush!"

Cason shook his head. "No I do not... And even if I wanted to..." His eyes filled with tears and he hid his face. "I can't replace you, Mik..."

Mikayla smiled and took her boyfriend into her arms. "I know..."

Jarrod watched this and cleared his throat. "So am I just chopped liver?"

Cason rolled his eyes. "Don't flatter yourself."

Jarrod grinned. "So I guess I am just a good ol' fashioned can of Spam then?"

Cason chuckled, "Jarrod hated spam."

"Yeah. It's nothing compared to a nice rack of BBQ glazed rib nachos." Jarrod flashed his teeth at Mikayla. "That's where you take a rack of ribs..."

Mikayla snapped her jaws at him. "If I wanted the cooking channel, I would have turned on Bobby Flay."

Cason absentminded rubbed the sand in front of them. He hated the sand... It was rough, coarse.

He felt two paws smack him in the side of the head.

"If you're going to recite a monologue in your head at least make it a good one." Jarrod narrowed his eyes.

Cason was about to respond when a chill shook his body. His head started to ache and his body felt lighter. He felt himself being tugged up and Mikayla's paws slide off of him. "Wait... What's going on?!"

Jarrod looked up as Cason levitated up towards a bright light in the sky. "I am guessing they are moving you, Natalie must have reached the base."

He swung at the air. "No! Please! I don't want to go!"

Mikayla reached up towards him, but when she opened her mouth to speak, it was a deeper voice. "Cason! It's alright. You're home. You're home."
