"Daughter, be of good comfort;
your faith has made you whole"
– Matthew 9:22
Trenton POV
After I was dress for work it was time for me to wake babygirl up. I walk into my daughter room and saw her sleeping peacefully. Layla is one of the many blessings god has given me. I wouldn't be the man I am if it wasn't for her. When she was born I knew I had to turn my life around for her.
"Wake up baby."i said shaking her gently.
She began rubbing her eyes and slowly lifting up. She held her arms out for me so I can pick her up. I laugh and pick her up out of her bed. She laid her head on my shoulder as I carried her to her bathroom.
"Wake up mama."i say and she lift her head up.
I look into my daughter beautiful brown eyes and I smile.
"Good morning babygirl."i say
"Good morning daddy."She says and I frown to mess with her.
"We have to do something about that morning breath."i say making a face and she started laughing which made me laugh.
I put her down so she can get started on her routine. While she was doing that I was picking out her outfit for today.
"I'll be downstairs in the kitchen."i say
"Okay daddy."She says
I walk downstairs into the kitchen and fix the both of us a bowl of cereal. She came running down the stairs dress. She sat at the table and I put the bowl in front of her.
"Daddy."She says
"Yeah."i say sitting next to her.
"Can you tell me who my mommy is?"She ask and I swallow hard and cough because I was now choking on my food.
"Are you okay daddy?"she ask with concern in her voice.
"I'm okay. Are you sure baby?"i ask and she nods.
"Yes I think I am ready."She says.
I don't think I am ready for this at all.
*
After dropping off Layla at school, I came straight here. I walk straight into my office."Bri i'm freaking out."i say.
"What's wrong T? Your text had me so scared."she says
"It's Layla."i say.
"What about Layla? Is she okay?"she ask.
"She ask me about her mom today. She said that she was ready."i say and she sighs.
"I know you don't want to hear this but it is time you tell her the truth. She is a big girl and she's at that age now where she will ask questions."she says.
"How do I explain to her that her mother is dead?"i ask.
"You can show Layla her mother's grave."she says
