"No, Tobio. I'm going to Karasuno too." Hikari said with pursed lips. Her hands were on her hips, and her eyebrow was raised, as if challenging the raven haired boy on the other side of the volleyball net to refuse her another time.
The boy groaned and rolled his eyes. "Why are you being so stubborn, Kari? You've been scouted by powerhouse schools, and you've got the grades for even the best school in Japan."
Tobio Kageyama did not like when his girlfriend, Hikari Tsubasa, was in one of her moods. He would usually let her do whatever she wants whenever she was in one of those moods, but this time, it was different. This was her future they were talking about.
"You're the one who's being stubborn, Tobio," the white haired girl retorted, her cerulean eyes glaring daggers at him. "Just accept it. I'm not changing my mind, so drop it."
"I'm not dropping it, Hikari." He replies with a piercing glare from his own dark blue eyes. "You got scouted by Aoba Johsai, Shiratorizawa, heck even Inarizaki scouted you, and we didn't even know they knew about you." The boy was running his mouth, wanting you to understand just how important this decision was. "Why would you go to a school like Karasuno, if you have those powerhouses after you?"
Hikari did not back down either, however. "I couldn't care less who scouted me. I don't care if they won the inter-high last year, or if they have Ushiwawa on their team or whatever that scary dude's name is." She spat out.
"It's Ushiwaka, Kari." Tobio deadpanned, before massaging his temples, muttering about how the girl in front of him was 'being impossible'.
"I said I don't care, Tobio." She leered at him, "I don't care what school wants me. I'm going to do what I want, and what I want is to go to Karasuno." She declared yet again, her determination not faltering in the slightest.
Crossing his arms over his chest, Kageyama gave a breathy sigh. "You know you don't have to do this for me, right?" His voice is soft now, as are his eyes. He's not challenging her anymore. Instead, his voice sounded almost vulnerable— a side of him that only a select few were able to see.
Hikari's gaze softens at his vulnerable state. She slowly walks towards him, ducking under the net and stopping in front of him. She wraps her arms around his neck, and runs her hands soothingly over the hair on the back of his head, which makes the boy visibly relax at her touch.
Looking up at him with a soft expression, she whispered "I'm not doing it for you, silly. I'm doing it for us."
Her boyfriend's eyes briefly go wide at her words before a chuckle escapes his lips. His hands move to wrap around her waist, as he flashes her one of his rare smiles— another side of him that other people didn't really get to see.
"I'm really not going to be able to change your mind, am I?"
"Nope," she smiles, popping the "p" as she shook her head.
"Dumbass." Tobio mumbles as he rolls his eyes again, before dipping his head to give the girl in his arms a quick peck on the lips.
She accepts the kiss before pulling away.
"Now come on, and give me a nice toss, babe!" She grins, picking up the volleyball which had been forgotten due to their little argument.
She ran to the end of that side of the court and flashed him another smile. "You ready?"
Tobio already had his game face on when she asked the question, and only nodded in reply.
She tossed the ball to him and ran towards the right side of the net. Tobio knew what toss to give her as soon as the ball left her hands. The ball made contact with his own hands briefly before he sent the ball in her direction with incredible speed, and accuracy. The ball was right in front of her the moment she reached the peak of her jump, and with her right hand, she spiked the ball right on the line on the left side of the opposite side of the court with a loud bang. She landed on her feet and threw her fist in the air.
"Yes! Right on the line!" She all but squealed.
Tobio looked satisfied with his toss too, his hands clenched as he cheered as well.
"Nice kill, babe!" Tobio praised her.
"That was a nice toss too!"
"You know I have the best tosses." He said smugly, accepting the compliment from his girlfriend.
"Oh?" Hikari pretended to think, furrowing her eyebrows, and putting a hand to her chin, "really? I thought Tooru had pretty good tosses too!"
At the mention of their senpai, Kageyama growled and made a beeline for her. But Hikari was quick. She's far quicker than her boyfriend, and they both knew it. In the blink of an eye, the distance between them only increased, when Kageyama tried to move closer to her.
"I have better tosses than him, Kari! Me!" He declared. "I'm better than him!" He continues, before looking at her nervously, all the confidence he previously had suddenly disappearing, "...right?"
His words made her double over in laughter.
"Oh, Tobio. You're too easy!" Hikari says between laughs.
"Dumbass. You're a dumbass, Kari!" He yells, the usual scowl he wore everyday back on his face.
Hikari finally stops laughing and turns to him with a smile.
"Yeah, but I'm your dumbass, Bakageyama."
