I feel a weight sit down next to me and my eyes snap open. I look over and see that Wyatt sat down next to me. I sit up and follow his gaze. He looks out the window and up at the sky.
The only light on the room comes from the moon shining through the window. I take out my ear buds and pause my music. He looks over at me nervously and I smile anxiously.
He takes my hand in his and smiles softly. He turns my hand over and examines it. Small red lines twine against the back of it. He traces the lines gently as he holds my right hand in his.
"I still can't believe that I can touch you without setting you on fire," he whispers. I laugh quietly and glance down at our intertwined hands. I look away and over at the window. I ponder my next question carefully before asking it.
"What are we?" I ask barely audible in the silent room. He turns my way and lifts my chin up. His ocean blue eyes bore into mine. The door he touched on my chin feels electrified and at the moment I don't care if it's because we share powers or if it's because of something entirely different.
"What do you want us to be?" He whispers. I scan his face and try to figure out what he's thinking. Our faces are inches apart and I can't help glancing down at his lips, curved up in amusement.
I look back up and see him watching me. I blush and try to hide my face but he moves my hands away. He wraps an arm around my waist, careful of my wings. He sets his other hand on the side of my face.
"What do you want us to be?" He repeats, looking down at my lips. Screw it. I move closer to him and connect our lips. My wings unfold and wrap around us.
He moves back and chuckles. I rest my forehead against his and laugh with him. He lifts his hand and starts to fix my wings, straightening out the feathers that are sticking out. I lean into his chest and watch as he carefully moves the feathers and puts them in the right place.
"Hey lovebirds!" A voice screeches from the door. My wings prick up and Wyatt glares over at the others, who decided to intrude. Cove leans against Leon as he plays with her hair.
They all walk in and stand around the bed. I huff and cross my arms. My wings unfold behind me, showing the blue and red. They sit down and start talking to us, well more to Wyatt than to me. I lean on Wyatt's shoulder and watch them talk.
I grab my phone and scroll through a couple of apps. Leon leans in and kisses Cove and I take pictures to send to Wyatt. I scrunch my nose as they pull apart and give each other that look.
Rhys sits on his phone, most likely texting Kaylee. Scout and Astrid are gossiping about something. Willow and Cove are fighting over who is more of a rat for the fiftieth time today.
And the others are talking to Wyatt and making fun of him. I roll my eyes and get up off the bed. I walk out of the room and to the kitchen. I grab a cup and fill it with some lemonade. I put my headphones back in and then on my music.
I jump onto the counter and sit there, drinking my lemonade and listening to music, my wings carefully folded so I don't knock anything over accidentally. I grab a chocolate chip cookie from the cookie jar and take a bite of it.
I catch sight of Astrid and Scout trying to walk in without me noticing. I blatantly look over at them and they stop in their tracks, knowing that they're caught. I take my headphones off and pause my music.
"Yes?" I ask. I turn their way and watch them stand at the doorway. I snap my fingers and try to snap them out of it. I sigh after a minute of trying and jump off the counter. I move closer and touch their heads.
"Sorry. We were wondering if you wanted to go to the park?" Scout says sheepishly. I ruffle her hair and nod. We walk out to the cars and I ride with Wyatt this time, instead of driving. He keeps looking over at me on the way there and I roll my eyes.
"If you don't stop checking me out, we are going to crash," I tell him chuckling. He looks back at the road somewhat sheepishly but every once in a while he still glances over at me. He parks next to Tuesday's car and we get out.
Rhys' girlfriend and Willow's mystery park guy are standing there waiting to meet us. Willow runs into the guy's arms and he hugs her. Kaylee walks up to Rhys and bops him on the nose.
"You know it's not exactly normal to ask people to go to the park at one in the morning, right?" The mystery park guy asks. I shrug. His hair moves in front of his eyes and he waves a hand so it moves back. I make a mental note to ask him about his power later.
"We aren't exactly normal as you can see, " I tell him. He laughs and agrees with me. He talks to Leon and Cove for a while, while I keep watch on Blythe and Oak to makes sure they don't fall out of a tree. I glance over at the guy as he wraps an arm over Willow's shoulder, making her blush.
I turn away. She'll be fine. Oak starts to slip down the tree and I fly up and put her back on a branch. She smiles gratefully and then starts climbing higher up the tree. I roll my eyes as she almost slips again but catches herself this time.
We hang out at the park until sunrise before we all day goodbye and agree to meet up later tonight. I drive Wyatt's car home, as he is almost falling asleep in the seat next to me.
I pull up to the front of the house and get out of the car. Me and Wyatt walk up to our room and I push the beds together. I sit down on the bed and he stands in front of me. He takes my hands and meets my soft blue eyes with his own ocean ones.
"Camdyn Skittle, will you be my boyfriend?" He asks anxiously. I nod and hug him. He lifts my chin and kisses me softly. We break apart for air and I smile at him before standing up.
I turn the light off and he flops onto the bed and is asleep almost immediately. I roll my eyes and get into bed. I snuggle into his side and he wraps an arm around me.
I quickly fall asleep, tired from the mission and the confession.
