You have been living with the skelebros for a month now and have never been happier. This is the safest you've ever felt at someone's house. Granted that might be because whenever a monster tried to attack you, either Sans or Papyrus would come to your rescue. You were so thankful to finally find people who truly cared about you. You often showed your appreciation for them by cooking. Sans learned fairly quickly that if you weren't in your shared room, you were probably in the kitchen. They tended to leave you alone while cooking because you found it therapeutic and loved the alone time. But recently, things seemed... off. Sans tried his best to avoid you, even going as far as to sleep on the couch at night. Papyrus didn't exactly avoid you but didn't make any effort to be near you like he used to. You were worried that you had done something wrong. You remembered that they loved a certain dish you had made two weeks ago and decided to make it again in hopes of getting in their good graces again. So you went to the store and bought all of the ingredients needed. Tonight's dinner menu, pizza.
While you were making the dough, Sans walked in. He leaned up against the doorway and watched as you flowered the countertop and started kneading the dough. You continued kneading while he just stared. You decided that it was best to let him talk when he was ready. He did seem kinda nervous. You noticed him fidgeting with his jacket while looking at the floor. He looked up at you once again and cleared his nonexistent throat. "Hey, uh, (Y/n)?" his voice rang through the quiet kitchen. "Can I ask ya something?" You stop what you're doing and turn all your attention to the nervous skeleton.
"Sure Sans, what is it?" He seems surprised at your response. You wait for him to continue but instead, he looks at the ground again. You sigh as you turn your attention back to dinner. You start to spread the dough on a cookie sheet as Sans continues to watch you. You add the sauce to the dough and spread it around. After, you add the topping. As you put the pizza in the oven Sans speaks again.
"I want you to tell me the whole truth about your time on the surface." You sigh as you expected him to say that sooner or later. You look at him and hope to think of a way to change the subject.
"That was a statement, Sans. Not a question." You state the obvious. You're still desperately trying to think of a way to change the topic.
"(Y/n), what happened to you on the surface? What happened that's so bad that you won't tell us? Why don't you trust me?" He paused to take a breath. "Where did your scars come from?" You see him looking at you from your peripheral vision but refuse to meet his eyes.
"Look, Sans. It's not that I don't trust you, I do. I really do but.." Your voice trail away as you think of a good way to phrase your next sentence. "*Sigh* Honestly, my life on the surface wasn't the best. I went to Mount Ebott in hopes of escaping my past." You pause. "As for my scars, those are a story for another time." You finally decide to meet his eyes. "I'm sure you have some skeletons in your closet that you would prefer no one to know about. I know I do. The only difference is that my entire past is my skeleton. I would rather not relive what I'm desperately trying to forget. I'm sorry but that's all you get. I see no reason in telling you something that's only going to push me back a step. I know that you wanted more but... That's the answer you're gonna get. At least, it is for now." You finish your little speech as the timer goes off telling you that the pizza is done. You pull the pizza out of the oven. "You can eat when you're ready. I'll go tell Paps it's done. Enjoy." You walk out of the kitchen and towards the stairs.
"Wait, aren't ya gonna eat with us," Sans called after you.
"I suddenly don't find myself hungry anymore," you say as you walk away. You make your way to Papyrus's room and knock. "Paps, dinner is done when you're hungry." You call through the door. You walk away before Papyrus could say anything. You walk into yours and Sans' room and quietly close the door behind you. You make your way to the bed and you lay down. You let yourself become engulfed by your thoughts. So much so that you didn't hear Papyrus yelling at Sans for god only knows what.
I want to tell him but... is it a good idea. How would he react? Would he tell Paps? You thought to yourself. Suddenly another question pops into your head. Why do I want to tell him? You pondered that question for a little while. Your stomach growled, pulling you out of your thoughts. You sigh as you get up to go get something to eat. As you make your way downstairs you see Sans sleeping on the couch. You pause as the question races back into your head. Why do I want to tell him? Easy. Looking at him now, you can know the answer. You want to tell him because, against all odds, you've fallen for him. There was no doubt in your mind that you liked him.
You snap out of your thoughts as you suddenly feel faint. OH yeah, food. That's something necessary. You mentally slap yourself for forgetting that you get faint spells if you don't eat enough. You slowly make your way to the kitchen so you don't wake Sans. You see the pizza is almost gone as you smile to yourself. You grab the three remaining slices and quickly eat them. You make your way back upstairs to your room and grab a change of clothes. You walk over to the bathroom and take a quick shower. After the shower, you do your normal routine. Brush your teeth, put your hair product in your hair. Wash your face, put on clothes, and go back to the room. Upon entering the room you were surprised to see Sans now sleeping on the bed. You smile to yourself, happy that he's not upset with you. You put your dirty clothes in the laundry basket and crawl into bed next to Sans. You close your eyes and await sleep to take you over. As your about to fall into the endess abyss that is your dreams, you feel someone grab your waist. You squint into the darkness to see Sans fast asleep. Confused, you look down you see that he had grabbed your waist in his sleep. You sigh as this was nothing new. He did this very often before he had resorted to sleeping on the couch. You close your eyes and snuggle a little closer to Sans so that he can have a better grip on you. You hear a low chuckle and someone whisper goodnight to you as you slip into a dreamless sleep.
