You wake up to the door slamming open. You open your eyes to see Paps staring down at you. Something about his expression tells you that whatever is about to happen is not gonna be good for you. Sans enters the living room from the kitchen with some lasagna. He sits down next to you, avoiding your eye. You look between the two confused. You can faintly see the time on the kitchen clock and Paps is never home this early. Something was up and you were sort of scared. "SANS! DID YOU GET THE INFORMATION REQUIRED?"

"Not yet Boss. As you can see, she just woke up." Information required? What are they talking about? What does it have to do with me?

"WELL HURRY UP AND GET IT! WE DON'T HAVE ALL DAY!" Paps stormed out of the house leaving Sans and you alone.

"Hey sweetheart. I gotta ask you something. I'm not gonna ask you about the surface again. Well I am but not like last time. Can you tell me some stories of you as a kid?"

"Stories of me? As a kid?" Out of everything he could have asked, why did he ask that? What's he trying to do here?

"Yeah, I know you don't like talking about your time on the surface but... You have to have some good memories as a kid, right? I just want to know. Maybe talking about it will help." He made a good point but you don't know if you are ready to tell him.

"Where's this sudden curiosity coming from?"

"I don't know. I just was thinking and thought that maybe you would tell me about your past." You thought about what he said and decided that no harm could come from telling him some stories, well, only the happy stories.

"Uh, sure I guess. Hmmm, what stories to tell?' you mused aloud. You finally decided on the one of the tree. "Well, when I was 4 my mom took me to a park. I had never seen this park because it was on the other side of town. Too far for my dad's likings. But today, my mom decided to take me because dad had a business trip and wouldn't be back for a few days. I remember bouncing up and down in my seat, and kept asking my mom if we were there yet. Every time she'd just laugh and say, 'Not yet, but we're close'. Finally after what seemed like hours, but was only 30 minutes, we arrived. I jumped out of the car and started running towards the play place when I noticed this tree. I ran to the tree instead, I don't know why but this tree has always brought me happiness. It was this tall oak tree. My mom estimated that it was probably around 100-150 years old.

It was huge

It was huge. I could climb through it. My mom often got worried when she would look away from me for a few moments to only look back and I was gone. I used to climb in the tree and go as high as I could. Because of the odd way it was shaped, I could climb to the top and hide there. From the ground, no one was able to see me. I loved it there. It became the place that my mom and I would always go when we had a chance. It was also where I would go alone if my parents were arguing. I would grab a small bag, put some food, water, and blankets in it and leave. Neither of them ever noticed my absence until the next morning. They would go looking for me, only to find me back at home. I sent countless nights in that tree. When the sun rose I would start my hour walk home. I always got in trouble for leaving but didn't really care. That tree became my sanctuary throughout my life. If I was ever scared, I would go there." You finished your story to see Sans staring at you confused. "What's wrong Sans?"

"Why were your parents arguing?' His question took you a back. No one had ever asked you that.

"Well, they didn't really get along all that well. They probably only stayed together for me."

"They're probably worried right now."

"Why's that?" You could tell your question took him off guard.

"Well, they're your parents. They're probably looking for you right now. Don't you think they'd care if you just disappeared?"

"No, they wouldn't care. Not anymore that is." You paused before mumbling under your breath, "Besides, they probably aren't the ones looking for me. But, HE probably is." You said it quiet enough that you thought Sans wouldn't hear, but you were wrong. He did hear and now he needed to know. Who was this man you always mentioned and why is he the one looking for you and not your family. He thought the stories might help him understand but they did the opposite. He's now more confused about your past then he was before.
