"What on Earth did you do?" JJ said in almost a snarl. I guess they had made him the "leader" of the rebellion. Which, don't get me wrong, he is a great friend of mine, but that was stupid.

He was known for losing his temper.

"KSI" was the term people used when addressing him. He hated it, insisting people call him JJ. I thought the nickname was stupid anyway, just an alias to show how good of a leader he was.

Knowledge, Strength, Integrity.

Fair enough to whoever made it up. All of those qualities showed in his leadership. But there were many people here who were older, wiser, and more experienced than him. It made no sense why they let a 26 year old lead the rebellion.

Oh well.

"I was trying to lead them away from here, Jide. They were getting close, so I decided to slow them down."

"I never gave you permission to do that. Blowing up one of their main bases is only going to make them angrier."

"You know it had to be done. There are no survivors left anywhere within 300 miles. Everywhere from central London to here has been infected with the disease, which you know that it was them who spread it."

JJ glared down at me. He knew he couldn't stay mad at me though. He knew I was right.

"What are you talking about?" A new voice called from the other room. She swiftly walked in, standing at JJ's side.

Natalie was JJ's girlfriend. She ran mainly gathering operations, such as getting supplies from nearby towns and she taught the others how to hunt. We were running low on numbers, and it was mainly due to starvation and disease. We started having to wear masks everytime we went out. As far as we knew, there was no one left to recruit. It was just us and them.

"Simon, can you please leave us? Go make sure Ethan and Emily came back okay," JJ was rubbing his temples, so I walked away, knowing if I stayed he would get mad.

I wandered through the halls until I got to the main area, which was actually a prison cafeteria. We had to move our operation to a prison once we started to run low on numbers. We decided it would be a good spot because it was already heavily fortified.

Ethan waved me over to him with one hand, the other was around Emily's waist.

I smirked at him. "How'd it go?"

His hair was still wet from when they had hosed him down. You could never be too careful.

Emily spoke up. "It was good. Valestein patrols were talking of things happening in central London. I'm not sure what, exactly, but apparently many men were killed out there."
I looked at her, confused. "I thought we weren't supposed to station anyone out there, since numbers are so low."

She nodded, this time letting Ethan speak.

"We talked with Natalie, and she said that nobody was stationed out there. So this could mean a few things. Either another country has decided to finally get involved, or there's more survivors out there."

I stared at them in disbelief. How could there be survivors? That was where the disease was hit the worst. Was there a way to survive it?

"We should try to run a rescue operation," I said flatly. I tried not to show too much excitement. It was exciting to think about it, though. If what Emily said was true, that means whoever these people were, they could help us win the war.

"Slow down there, Simon," My friend, Lauren, came over to me. She put her hand on my shoulder and looked into my eyes. "We don't know for sure what's really out there. We've never travelled that far."

"Besides, JJ wouldn't let us," Ethan added.

"Who needs his permission? Imagine how happy he'll be when we get back."

"How do you think we are going to get there? It'd take days on foot."
Lauren turned to Ethan. "I know someone who can help."
