My theory was proven right when I'd brought it up with JJ. He pulled up the security footage, and it showed Josh sneaking out of the back side of the prison. I was surprised nobody noticed.

I was pissed at him. I wished he was standing right in front of me, so I could shoot him. No, not shoot him, but drown him. Or something slow.

I wanted him dead.

But first, I wanted Cara back.

JJ had brought in a lot of people to discuss a rescue mission. Ethan was in a really bad place, so he sat at the back of the room with Emily. I wasn't doing too good, either, but I wanted to sit with Harry, Lauren, and Bella. I needed the company.

A hand tapped my shoulder, and I whirled around, expecting it to be Bella.

Tobi's eyes softened when they met mine. "Oh no. What happened?"

I just shook my head. I didn't want to say it. "You got better quick," I opted on saying.

"Yeah, it passes quickly with the right treatment. Where's everyone else?"

I knew he was referencing Cara and Josh. I looked to the stage, expecting to see JJ but it was still empty. "Well, Josh is busy being a traitor, and he took Cara and Simon."

I decided not to mention our fight. I hated that the last thing I'd said to her was the reason she was outside in the first place. It was all my fault.

Tobi's eyes widened. "No. But, he saved us. Why would he do this?"

"Probably to save his own skin. We're hopefully going on a rescue mission. If not, then I'm going by myself. I just need her to be okay."

"No you're not. I'm coming with you," He put his hand on my shoulder and squeezed it once. "She'll be okay. She's tough."
I tried to smile. He had no idea how tough she was.

But she was also naive. She trusted Josh too easily, and that put her in danger. Who knows what they were going to do to her?

JJ made his way onto the stage and the gathering quieted down. I held my breath, waiting for some kind of news. Maybe Simon had a communication device or something. Maybe they escaped before they made it to the city. Maybe—

"Still no news," He started. "But I made the decision to send out a rescue operation two days from now. I'll only send out volunteers. I'll map out the plan tomorrow afternoon, when we have the final team accounted for. Please, for the love of God, stay inside until then. It's hard enough dealing with a traitor and two missing people. I don't need anything else happening while we're working on this. Thank you."

He walked off of the stage, and slowly the crowd dispersed.

I played with my fingers nervously. Would two days be too late? Surely not.

I hoped she could wait that long.

I've got nothing to say. I know it's probably overwhelming to make all of these edits at once, but I've been working on them for a while.
