It was 2 in the morning. At the middle of the night, Natasha had the same nightmare again. But this time, she didn't take the attempt to die for the Stone, Clint intentionally pushed her off the cliff in order to claim the Soul Stone.
Bruce's POV:
It was 10am. We were all having breakfast and talking about random stuff to each other, but the most important topic among us was the fact that Pepper and Morgan would come today to visit us, especially Nat. The conversation was started by Wanda, "So, my fellow Avengers, I have an amazing news for you. Pepper and Morgan are coming to visit Nat." And then everyone was talking about it, well, everyone except Nat."What happened to Natasha? She seems so gloomy." said Clint and everyone's attention went to her. "I'm sorry, what?" she asked. "You okay, Nat? You never have a loss of words." Rhodey asked her. "I'm fine. I just don't feel like talking, that's it." she answered. Everyone was to their conversations after that.
Shortly after that came the time to decide who would be doing the dishes. Now, what we usually do in this case is: someone bring some this topic and then everyone one of us says 'not it' in order to get his/her life spared from doing the dishes. But the last to say it has to do the dishes. Just like that, when Rhodey asked "Who's doing the dishes?" everyone said 'not it'. But Nat was so lost in her thoughts that she lost the game and when she realised it, she answered "Fine, I'll do it."
After breakfast, we were still sitting on the dining table when Nat went to the kitchen to do the dishes. After a while, I felt like I should join her. So I went to the kitchen to help her out.
I stepped inside the kitchen and saw her washing those dishes. I went to her and asked, "Need some help?" "Sure." she replied. If you could cancel out the sound of water then you would say that there was a dead silence in the room as we were doing our work. I decided to put an end to it.
- Nat?
- Hmm.
- Are you okay?
- Yes.
- Don't lie. You're never so quiet. You can tell me if anything's wrong.
- Nothing's wrong.
- You can trust me.
- If I tell you what happened, you'd say I'm crazy.
- I wouldn't. Trust me.
- (sigh) I had the same nightmare last night. But it wasn't completely same--
- Don't worry. It's just a nightmare. It's happening because it has affected you badly, that's it. It'll be gone in a few days.
- Will you let me finish?
- Sorry.
- I used to watch the same thing that had actually happened when me and Clint were there. We would argue, fight and then I would... well, this time I saw that when the red floaty guy would say about how to get the Stone, Clint started telling me that I am nothing but a murderer and I can't wipe the red off of my ledger. And then he started pushing me. At the end, he...he pushed me off the cliff. (pause). The craziest shit happens when I... I could... I felt the impact when I touched the ground. And then I looked around. There was blood and-and I could feel it, I felt in my dream. It isn't supposed to happen but... (panicking).
- Okay, okay, calm down. She started to panic, so I tried to calm her down. After a few minutes, I saw that she had a way more gloomier face than she had before. She asked me, "Just be honest and answer this question: do you really believe that's what happened or do you think I'm just making it up?" "Well, nothing's impossible." I replied. "It's crazy." she said. "Don't tell me what's crazy, I mean, you used to get emails from a raccoon, so nothing sounds crazy anymore. Besides, I know you would never lie to me." I replied. And then, finally, I saw that that gloomy face had turned into a bright smile.
After that, we stepped out of the kitchen and realised that everyone was in the living room. So we went there and saw that Pepper and Morgan were already here. As soon as Morgan realised that I was there, she came running to me saying, "Uncle Brucie!", and I carried her. From the corner of my eye, I could see Nat at me, probably because of the name 'Brucie'. "Hey, Morgan! How are you? Did you keep your promise and look after mommy?" I asked her. "I'm fine. And yes, I did. So now, it's time for my reward." she replied. "What do you want?" I asked her. "I heard there's a park nearby. Will you take me there?" she asked. "Of course, I will. But after lunch, okay?" I asked. "Okay." she replied. By the time we had finished our conversation, Nat had already gone and started talking to Pepper. After that, I introduced Morgan and Nat to each other.
AFTER LUNCH . . .
"C'mon, c'mon, let's go!" said the excited little cutie, pulling my arm. "Okay, I'm coming. But is it okay if Auntie NAT comes with us?" I asked. "Yes." she replied. I went to Nat's room to see her reading a book. "We are going to the park. Wanna come?" I asked her, hoping she'd say yes. "Sure, Brucie!" she replied teasingly. I knew she would do that.
I left the room so that she could get ready. Shortly after that, when she came downstairs, we started walking to the park. Morgan was very excited, and Nat was looking happier than before. I decided to bring Nat with us because she was sad the whole day. And now, she felt way better than before.
After arriving, I let Morgan go to the children's area so that she could play and have fun. Me and Nat went and sat down on a bench. We watched Morgan play. She looked so happy, and so innocent. All of a sudden, a thought had come to me.
- Nat?
- Hmm.
- Morgan looks so happy, right?
- Yeah.
- I can already picture us in the future, with our own child.
- You know very well why that's not possible. I just wish I never be became a spy, then I wouldn't have to live in the Red Room for most of my life.
- But if you had chosen to do that, then how would I have ever come to know you?
- You're kinda right, actually. After some time, when Morgan was bored of the slides and the see-saw, we played tag with her. Later, we decided to have some ice cream and go back.
