The people on the streets

You see them out on the streets,
Scattered like litter,
No bin to be put in,
No place they belong,

You see the drug addicts and drunks,
You don't see the stories,
You think you know how they got there,
But you have no idea,

Everyone always assumes they know,
Everyone always assumes they are right,
But what do we know,
Have we ever really asked,

You will find,
That those who ask,
Will always care more,
It's not that they understand,
It's that they respect,

Respect what they went through,
Not judge who they are in the moment,
They try to help,
Instead of thinking they deserve it,

We have all heard people say,
'It's their fault they got there',
'They will just buy drugs',
But non of them ever asked,
What led you there?,
What can I do to help?,

To make the world better,
To clear the streets,
We can't keep judging,
We just need to ask,
What do you need?
