3 months later :

After Mikey got into it that night, I realized that it was finally time to start getting my life back on track.

I'm 28 with four kids and would've had nothing to fall back on if I left Mikey.

But I refused to stay with a man that treated me poorly and barely made time for his kids no matter how much money he had.

So that night I called my parents. I told them everything that was going on and they allowed me to come and stay with them for however long until I could get myself stable.

At first, I was gonna go and stay with my best friend since childhood, RJ. But then I thought that it would be disrespectful to Mikey to have his kids around another man.

I wouldn't want him to bring another woman around my kids no matter how long he knew her, so I didn't stay with him for the sake of that.

After I left, I got a part-time job in a small local boutique, and another job working as a receptionist for a modeling agency.

It wasn't much but both jobs paid good money.

I saved all the money I made from work for around 3 months so that I could put a down payment on a house. My mother and father also chipped in on helping me.

I currently live in a 3 bedroom home. The older two boys have their own room, the twins share a room, and I have a room of my own.

Ever since I left Mikey things have been looking up for me.

I've decided that I wanted to go back to college to finish getting my degree in political science.

It would be hard trying to manage a job, school, and the kids, but I knew that I could do it.

Mikey still makes time to see the kids but as far as him and I, our relationship is over.

He refused to get a divorce and right now I'm really focused on myself so I'm just gonna worry about that later.

But this weekend, we're going on a little mini-vacation because he said he feels as if I need a break.

Now he cares.....

But I'm not gonna pass up a free vacation so it's whatever.

Present Day :

"Mommy Caleb said dad's picking us up?" My oldest son Christian asks.

"Yes did you finish packing your bag for the weekend?" I ask as I place the twins into their high chairs.

My babies were now 9 months and crawling all over the place.

Maiya could somewhat walk, but since my baby boy Draven was always a bit smaller than her, he was a little behind. But he was starting to say dada which I thought was so cute.

"Uhh." He says.

"Christian I told you last night to make sure you had your stuff ready."

"I forgot."

"You didn't forget to play that damn game all night now did you?"

"No ma'am." He lowly mumbles.

"Hmm. There are clean clothes folded in the washroom. Grab some and put them in your bag. Help Caleb pack his too okay?"

"Alright." He says running off.

I place the cut-up bananas onto the trays in front of their high chairs as they start to chow down on them.
