Chapter 24

Abel:
I stepped out on to the deck of my villa and sat down as I lit a blunt. I took my phone out my pocket when I heard it ringing and when I looked, I saw Lamar was calling me.

"Hello?"

"Hey, I was just calling to make sure you were still alive. We haven't heard from you in a few days."

"My bad, I just been preoccupied."

"Yeah, I bet. You down there living your best life, falling in love and shit while the rest of us are here in Toronto freezing our asses off."

I laughed. "I'm flying back tomorrow. You know I gotta spend Christmas with the fam."

"You bringing Liah?"

"No, but I'm gonna ask her if she wants to fly out to Vegas so we can spend New Years together though.

"Aaw that's sweet. I'm glad you're happy bro. I was real worried when y'all stopped talking and you were stuck with Bella for all them months. I could just see that she was draining you."

"I was really drained and looking back, I feel really dumb for trying to make it work for so long. I wish I had just let Bella loose and reached out to Liah sooner. Our relationship could've been something serious."

"It still can be, it's just on a little bit of a different time line now. But the way you talk about her, I can tell y'all are gonna be rocking with each other for a long time."

"I hope so. We-"

"When are y'all gonna go public?"

"I don't know. I mean, we're just dating and enjoying each other, I don't feel like there's a need to "go public" and let everyone in our business. My last two relationships were super public and you see how those ended."

"Yeah, I get you. But y'all not gonna make it Instagram official or nothing?"

"Nah, not unless she wants to. Last thing I want is for me to post her then  she gets overwhelmed by my fans and shit. You know how they are."

He laughed. "Yeah, them XO girls go crazy for you bro."

"Exactly. So we're just gonna keep it low key for now."

My phone started to vibrate and I saw that Li was calling me. "I'ma call you back later bro."

"Alright, bye."

I hung up with him and answered her call.

"Hey baby, you done at the college?"

"Yup, I'm officially enrolled and I registered for my classes so I can start after break."

"That's great. What are you about to do now?"

"I'm about take the ferry back in a couple minutes."

"You want me to meet you there?"

"No, I got a surprise for you."

"You do? Can I get a hint?"

She laughed. "No, but I'll call you when it's ready. Deal?"

"Deal."

"Alright, see you later."

We hung up and I went back inside to start packing my things for the next day.

Myliah:
Since I knew Abel was leaving the next day, I wanted to do something nice for him before he left.

I had a small private piece of beach right behind my house and thought it'd be perfect for a picnic date.

I made sandwiches for us then cut up some strawberries, pineapples, mangoes and melon to make a fruit tray. I put them into a cute basket I had along with two glasses and a bottle of champagne.
