After a few days of icing my ankle, I was able to get up and do things by myself with little to no pain, which meant I could finally go out with Nick.
As I was in the bathroom doing my hair, I heard my sister and Kyra walking into the beach house.
"Liah!" I heard my sister Lani yell. "Where are you?!"
"In the bathroom!"
"Oooh, where are you going?" Ky asked as she leaned against the door frame. "Out with Abel?"
"No, I'm going out with Nick."
"Okay Liah! You got two men on deck!"
"No, I don't. Him and Abel are both my friends."
"Yeah, yeah." Ky rolled her eyes. "You know you want a slice of Abel."
"Whatever, he's in a whole ass relationship."
"Well I haven't seen his girlfriend since he got here."
"She was supposed to come. I don't know if she still is." I shrugged. "Now are you done with the questions?"
"Nope. Where are you and Nick going?"
"We're just going to get some ice cream and talk."
"Now hypothetically speaking, let's say Nick tells you he wants to he with you..." Lani said. "What are you gonna say?"
"I hope he doesn't say anything like that, especially 'cause we haven't see each other in years and need time to get to know each other as the adults we are now."
"Okay but what if in a few weeks from now he says he really likes you and wants to be with you?"
"I guess I'll consider it...I just don't wanna move on too fast."
"That makes sense."
My phone pinged and when I looked I saw a text from Nick.
Nick: Hey im pulling up now
Liah: Okay, here I come 😊
"Alright, I gotta go."
"Are you gonna be at the luau later?"
"Of course, I'll meet you guys there."
I grabbed my bag from my room then brushed pass them so I could go.
Nick was outside waiting for me in his bright red Jeep with the top and doors off.
He smiled. "You look nice."
"Thank you." I smiled back as I climbed in his jeep. "So, what bought you back here from New York?"
"New York is so...hectic and school was driving me crazy. I needed a break so I thought I'd just come home."
"Yeah, coming here is always a nice break from school and work."
"What school are you going to?"
"Morgan State. But I think I'm going to transfer to UH if I move back here."
"Why do you wanna move back here?"
"It's a long story..."
He smiled a little. "Well, I've got time to listen."
