Family Reunion

Dinner

Lexi's POV

    We arrive at the house 20 minutes before needed. We walk up to the door and has i open it Curtis opens the door. "Hi" He says looking at the two boys with me. "Are you Adam's friend?" He asks Cory. "No I'm Lexi's friend." "Oh." He runs back into the house and we enter walking into the living room. "Hello, Cory and Kevin. Good to see you two again." My father says getting up and shaking there hands. "You too sir." "Well dinners ready i'll just get Adam and Carrie." Kathy says getting up walking upstairs. We all walk into the dining room. 

    "So Cory do you play any sports like Kevin?" My father asks. "Yes sir. I play football." He says and that gets Adam's attention. "Really Whats your position?" "Quarter back." "Cool. Are you any good?" "Ehh." "Hes being modest hes the reason we have went to finals." Kevin chimes in. "Shut up Your a great running back." The two boys start to complement each other and then Adam starts talking with them. 'Great now there friends.' I say smiling at the thought. "So. Did you do anything fun with Willman and Mae?" My father asked me. I look over to the guys and i see Kevin smiling knowing he heard the question. "Uh, Yeah we went to the farmers market and shopping this morning." "Oh that sounds like fun maybe we can have a girls day just us girls." Kathy says. "Yeah that sounds like alot of fun." "Great maybe next weekend."  The adults decided to talk among themselves as the teens started talking.

     "So this girl kept on making rude comments to Lexi and so she finally got fed up and told her off." Kevin was laughing telling a story how i made a bully feel bad about herself. "Yeah She told her that the reason guys only were with her was because she opened her legs for every guy who said she was pretty." Cory jumps in telling the censored version. "The girl looked at her 'Friends' and they all were laughing. The girl Jasmine said that was not true and Lexi asked our friends who were on the team and they agreed with her." Cory finished. "Well that girl needed to know not to insult people its not like she was perfect." I said taking a bite out of my chicken. "Wow that must have been an interesting day at school." Adam chimes in. "Yeah it was."
 
        Beth looked over at me. "I wish i could do that." "Do what?" "Stand up for myself." "From who?" "Trisha she is a total bitch at school. I'm surprised you never noticed her before." She tells me looking down. "Honestly I don't really pay attention Shes properly just jealous."  "Of what shes rich and pretty. She can get any guy she wants." "So maybe because you have loving parents. A great family, Hek I would have killed to have that back home." "What do you mean?" "I was always getting bullied for not having a dad. It wasn't till Cory and Kevin told me that it didn't matter, that they were my family. I believed them and they're right we are family." "Thats nice." "You know at school just remember she is only trying to get a rise out of you and shes not important. Trust me. The more you get upset the better she feels." "I'll try. I just hope that it works."  We all start talking about this new movie thats coming out in 3weeks. "You guys should come down and we can all watch the movie." Adam suggests. "That sounds like a lot of fun." Cory says. "Any excuse to see my girl." Kevin says pulling me closer to him. "Dude shes my step-sister please not in front of me." Adam says and I smile thinking 'He just said I'm his sister step-sister but thats progress.' We all go back to eating our food. 

    "I think its getting late you boys should properly head out soon." My father tells the boys. "Yeah. My mom won't be happy if i get home late and I still have to drop dumbass off." Cory says. "Hey who are you calling dumbass. And for your information you can just go home I'm gonna walk." I look over to him. "No you are not." "Yes shes right. Your parents might not like that idea." Kathy agrees with me. "Its fine my brother isn't home and i don't have parents." He says and Kathy gives him a sad smile. "I'll tell Willman and Mae." I threatened him. "Fine." "Good" I get on my tip toes and give him a peck on the lips. The boys walk out the door and i yell after them. "Text me when you two get home. I mean it." "Yes ma'm." They yell back as I shut the door.

    "Does Kevin not have parents?" Kathy asked me as i walk back into the house. "No. His mom dies a couple years ago and his dad is in jail for abuse, Its just him and his brother." "Oh I'm sorry." "Its okay. He doesn't talk about it. Thats why he always stayed with me cause he doesn't like to be in an empty house." I state looking at my father. "Oh. Does Willman know?" He asks me. "Yeah he usually stays with them if his brother is out of town. But I know his brother is in town this week." I hope they change the subject I don't like talking about his situation. "Well I'm really tired so I'm gonna go up to my room." I say walking towards the stairs. "Alright Goodnight." They both say. "Goodnight." With that I walk up the stairs into my room to see Adam.

     "What are you doing in my bedroom Adam?" I ask curiously. "I wanted to talk to you." "Then talk" I said shocked that he wants to talk. "Well I'll admit when you first arrived i wasn't the happiest." I scoffed at that. "Really" I say sarcastically. "Well I just wanted to say Dad is happy that your here we all are and i guess i am too." He says walking towards the door. "Well goodnight Alexis." "Night Adam." He walks out and I change into pjs and see a text from the boys telling me they got home safely. I close my eyes honestly happy for the first time in awhile.
