He was in the attic of the old weeping house searching through cardboard boxes that held things covered in dust. The whole time he pulled out things, A word was bouncing in his head and it wouldn't leave.

'Memory Lane.'

He continued searching for it was his destiny to find what he was looking for,

A seed packet. He didn't know why he was looking for it. He just guessed it'll be better. He'll have a little bit of enjoyment, Or fun in his life. Sure he had toys, But he didn't have pets. Ever, He wanted something for himself. Something to take care of other than himself and his sister.

He dug out teacups and plates and carefully lifted old piggy banks and little toys.

"What are you doing up here?" His sister said in shock walking up the stairs. With every step, the boards made a creaking noise.

"I'm looking for something special." He said not looking back at her.

"It's not very.. Special if it's up here." She came closer and looked at all the things on the ground.

"Hey! That's the watch I had as a kid!"

She picked up the watch that was dusty and still ticking softly.

"You're still a kid, Besides that thing is almost a year old. You lost it and never cared to get it back." He said glaring at her.

"Not true. You just never heard me asking for it."

He rolled his eyes and looked back at the empty box. He then gathered everything he got out and put it back in the box.

He turned around and grabbed another box and started pulling things out again.

"How many boxes have you looked at so far?"

"... Five. But now Six."

He pulled out a small rectangular box and looked at his sister.

"Open it.." She said, stepping back.

He found an opening and opened the small container. Inside held a seed packet.

"That's what you were looking for?" She asked annoyed.

He nodded and grabbed the seed packet and stuffed it in his pocket.

"Six boxes just to find a seed packet? Why was it put like that?"

"Why do you ask so many questions."

She cocked her head and huffed.

"Fine." She said as she started to make her way to the stairs.

He looked back at the packet then at his sister, Crossing her arms and stomping down the steps.

He stood up and followed.

"Find it?" His mother asked as he entered the small kitchen.

He nodded and held the seed close to him.

"I have a vase for you. Your father found it in the shed." She picked up a red vase sitting by the window and handed it to him, smiling.

He grabbed the vase and smiled back racing up the stairs to his shared room with his sister.

He opened the door and sat the vase down next to his nightstand that stood directly under the window.

"What kind of plant is it?" She asked hopping off her bed on the other side of the room.

"I dunno'." He said ripping the packet open to reveal a medium-size seed.

"Something big." He looked at her.

"There's only one.." She looked confused.

"Six boxes for nothing. What if it doesn't even grow." She said while she stuffed her head into her pillow in disappointment.

"We'll see." He placed the seed in his hand then with the other poked a hole in the dirt creating a hole for the seed to easily fall into then cover back up.

He dropped the seed in and patted the dirt back down making it look like nothing ever happened.

"Now we have to wait.."

He left the room to get a small glass of water to feed to the freshly planted seed.

Plants need water to survive.

They also need sunlight, He made sure the sun was on it. Not too much or nor too little.

He didn't want it to die from roasting in the hot sun. But he didn't want it to droop and it's colors be gray and gloomy.

He opened the door to his room and then walked over to the pot, His sister watching every move.

He poured some water into the vase and watched it slowly sink into the dirt.

He smiled a little.

"Will it grow now?" His sister asked, kicking her legs impatiently.

"No, It's going to be a while.." He said with a frown.

"Why was it in the attic in the first place?" She asked, hopping off her bed and making her way to the pile of toys on the ground.

"You know mom and dad.. Always collecting stuff to sell at the garage sale." He turned his attention to his sister.

"I hate that! They made me sell my Jack-In-The-Box !" She said while making an angry expression.

"That thing haunted me. I feel like he stared at me when I was sleeping or had my back turned." He shivered from the old haunting thoughts.

She shrugged and picked up her doll whispering to herself and voice acting with another one.

He sighed and walked out of the room.
