CHapter 2:

"So that's it."The principal says, shaking my hand.

"Okay I got it."I say nodding, getting up.

"I'll be back to pick you up after school."Javi says as we walk out of the office. I nod, biting my lip, a habit I do when I'm nervous. He kisses my forehead, then walks out. I turn my music on, putting in my ear buds as I look at the map of the school. When I look up, all the kids rushing.

"Where are they going?"I wonder out loud. I look down at my schedule, World Religions with Mr. Lording in Building C. I'm in the main building...so it should be three buildings to the right. I walk over three buildings, but I'm at building G. I look around, directly ahead is F. Across the campus looks like a C.

I walk across the grass, through the quadrant and across more grass to building C. Okay now which classroom...seven...seven..seven! Here it is!  I walk in the classroom, to find everyine already sitting there. I frown, taking out my ear buds and putting my iPod in my purse.

"Ah, you must be Miss Gonzalez. You're ten minutes late but I'll excuse you. Take a seat next Randy, Randy raise your hand."Mr. Lording says. I see a cute light skinned boy with green eyes raise his hand from the back. I walk back there, through the rows, sitting next to him.

"Hey. What's yo name, beautiful?"Randy says, smiling at me.

"Laina, so what are we talking about?"I ask as I take out a notebook, a pen, highlighter and sticky notes.

"I'm talking about you and me, I can make you feel things you didn't know was possible."He says giving my body a once over.

"Excuse me? I was talking about the teacher, what is he talking about?"I say offended.

"Oh...something about the Judaism or something like that..."He says, staring at me. I ignore the stare as I quickly copy down the notes. I pull out some index cards and start to flash cards of the vocabulary. I'm half way through when a bell rings, but I ignore it and continue.

"Hey, that means you leave."Randy says tapping my arm.

"Oh."I say looking up at the now empty classroom. I pack up my things and walk out, not noticing Randy behind me.

"What's your next class?"He says, making me jump.

"Um. Statistics with Mr. Johnson in Building E, classroom 4."I say looking at my schedule again.

"Oh that's right by my class, I'll walk you."He says walking with me.

"Okay..."I drawling it out. We walk over to building E, he walks me to my classroom.

"Thank you, see you around."I say then walk into my classroom.

"Hi I'm Laina Gonzalez, I just started today."I say to the teacher's back.

"Thanks Mickey!"I say running in the house.

"Javi! Javi!"I yell as walk through the house. I walk into the kitchen, looking around. I drop my bag on a chair but keep my purse on me.

"¿Que?"He says from the living room. I get some watermelon Kool-Aid from the refrigerator and walk in the living room to see Javier and a bunch of his friends, playing cards. They're taking up all the seats, I sip on my Kool-Aid watching them. I don't think they notice me in the corner of the room.
