A few days had passed and I was training just as much as before. Somehow it never seemed to mean anything to me. I found myself sitting in the short waves that came up the shore, staring at the sunset. I felt someone walking up and sitting next to me. I looked over to see Macao.. I looked back out at the sea, still fairly upset with him.

"Sure takes me back..." He sighed, leaning back on his arms. "I remember when you first joined the guild... You came out here that night, you had nowhere to stay. You had no idea what you were doing.. And I came out here and let you cry on me as you told me how your dragon left you and how it made you feel so empty without them.. I invited you back to my home and from then on I swore I would take care of you forever on.."

"You can't do that... I remember what you told me the day I turned 16.. You asked me why in all this time why I never was interested in anyone.. Why I didn't have someone to take care of me.. You told me to go out and find someone before you'd die.." I looked down at the wet sand.

"I've always wanted you to be happy.. I just never thought about how I might lose you in the process... I'm scared.. I'm not getting any younger.. I need to know there will be someone to take care of you, and love you.. And hold you all the nights when all you can do is cry.." Macao tried to catch my glance.

"Why! Why does anyone have to take care of me! Why can't I just take care of myself! I did it before I joined Fairytail! I'm strong now, I can fend for myself!" I said standing up and looking down at him.

"Y/n... Everyone needs a companion... Everyone needs someone to fill their life with purpose... If you don't have someone.. What is life worth living for?" He asked looking back up at me. I stood in shock... He was right.. I hated admitting defeat.. But he was right, it was the whole reason I had stuck around this long..

"I just want you to be happy, and have someone who loves you and will take care of you.." He said holding me in a hug. "But I don't want it to be someone who isn't worthy of you.. That's my problem with him.. He hasn't proven to me that he is worthy enough of you.. Because you are my shining little princess..." He said tearing up near the end.

"Hey what's all the crying for? We gotta make it back home for family night dinner!" Romeo said walking up to us. I saw a shadow off to the edge of the building.. I knew it was Rogue, and I knew he saw everything... I bet he was about to come to my side when Macao came. I nodded over to him, almost thanking him for not intruding. He appeared and smiled at me before leaving.

He has to prove himself to Macao... I get the feeling we'll be having a family day sometime soon..
