Laid out on the green grass, I gaze up at the sky
Always here, waiting, watching them pass me by
Always in such a hurry, those bunch of busy bees
They catch the wind, while I flutter in the breeze
(Stop, please
You'll wish that time was yours to freeze)
What do they see, when they look down at me?
Some frown, some snicker, some smile bitter
While they glitter, so bright it makes me flicker
While they twitter, so loud it makes me flitter
(Stop, don't be so proud
You'll miss the way they titter)
Oh, they think I'm a quitter...
Well, I'll show them!
Won't stay here and wither, I'll cut my own stem
No more roots! I'll slither down the hill, my friend
Shed these attributes which they condemn
(Stop, what then?
You'll never find them again)
But words are cheap, easier said than done,
Truth is, I'm slow and weak, fragile and dumb
I try, but trying is failing, and failing ins't fun
I cry, 'cause I've realised I'd rather be anyone
But me
(Stop, just let yourself be or
You'll reach the point of no return)
I yearn to be reborn, so
This body I have to burn
To ashes — no time to mourn!
Light the matches, it's my turn
To shine!
It's fine, no need for concern
It's fine, see, I'm not torn
I AM still ME
But better, faster, smarter and harder
No one can measure!
( . . . )
Wait...
This weight suddenly sits so heavy
This gait of mine is no longer steady
This taste on my mouth, no longer heady
Can't sate this need, so ready to
M U T I L A T E
A N N I H I L A T E
This body, so fake
Not embraced, but merely misplaced
Faced with hate, 'cause
They can't relate
Thrown out the gate
Like waste
No!
Is this my fate?
Is it really too late?
To go back on track, but there's no path
But forward and
D O W N
And
Lower and
lower and
lower and
lower and
lower
S T O P !
( . . . No . . .
No, it's too late, you've lost your core
Buckled and cracked under the pressure
Thought yourself so clever, but you're a fool
You left the comfort of your own nice shade
So now you must brave this endless storm
Or face the terror of the darkest pit and
Gaze into
M E
Forever )
