00:25-28
Solitary souls suffer such sin, seeking sanctuary
within hallowed halls, their soiled spirits wary,
bowed before the bare feet of our Virgin Mary,
hoping She will lift the heavy burden they carry.
00:21-24
Blessed be, beloved brethren, brave believers.
Come near, hearts barren, to break your fevers.
Wild loves are but passions, He says, stay pure
(yet the red stains on white collars They obscure).
00:17-20
Divine deliverance demands dutiful diligence,
a will, not to indulge, but to relieve indigence;
to not drown in a chalice, for death it carries
(yet They feast, white teeth on ripe black berries).
00:13-16
Princes pay, paupers plea, priests pray proper.
Paradise heeds heart's labor, not coins of copper
(yet Their necks glitter gold beneath black folds
and here I sit, mute and limp, abiding old codes).
00:9-12
Foolish fellows fall for fiends, fate far from fair.
Why must we suffer silent for those unaware?
A red haze awakes a violent urge to bite and tear
(oh, Mother, make me merciful, I'm in your care).
00:5-8
Ghostly ghouls grovel, grabbing gullible givers.
The sight of the faithful rattles me with shivers.
Am I doomed to covet what I can't yet grieve?
(Oh, Lord, hear my pleas, I still wish to believe).
00:1-4
Haunted heathens hear His hellhounds howling,
breaths cold and damp, I can feel them prowling.
"Death comes for all," reads my stone engraving.
Kneeled to none, I still pray ... am I worth saving?
