Chapter Nine

Your battle was the third to last, which meant that the next round, you would be going up against either Yaoyorozu or Mina, depending on who won. Of course,you still had to win first.

Once again, your nervousness had come back. As you sat in the audience to watch Midoriya and Shinso's battle, your hands were shaking and you couldn't help but feel sick. Next to you, Kaminari and Kirishima seemed to sense your fear.

"Hey, (Y/n)-chan," Kirishima put his hand on your shoulder. "You good? You seem super nervous!"

"Is it because you're sitting so close to me?" Kaminari asked, leaning in closer to your face. Your face turned slightly red, and you pushed him away slightly, him frowning sadly.

"Yeah, I am nervous Kiri-san, but it's not because of you," you nudged Kaminari. "It's just that this Sports Festival is kind of a big deal."

Kirishima gave you a thumbs up. "Yeah, but you're going to do great." He then paused for a moment and his smile faltered. "So, are you going to use your quirk?" There was a short awkward silence as you stared at him, your mouth slightly open as you tried to form a coherent sentence, but before you could say anything, Present Mic began to speak.

"ALRIGHT LISTENERS! IT'S TIME TO START OFF THE NEXT ROUND OF THE SPORTS FESTIVAL!"

I must be really lucky, you thought, as you turned to watch the field. Every time someone brings up my quirk, someone else starts talking or interrupts me.

"OUR FIRST ROUND IS BETWEEN CLASS 1-A'S MIDORIYA IZUKU, OUR FIRST PLACER FROM THE FIRST ROUND," Present Mic continued as the green haired boy walked out onto the field. Across from him emerged Shinso. "AND HIS OPPONENT, SHINSO HITOSHI FROM GENERAL STUDIES." You cheered along with the rest of the crowd, not really knowing who you were rooting for. They were both your friends. Midoriya's quirk hurt him everytime he used it and you had no idea what Shinso's was, but he had managed to lead his team to the final without them even realizing it, so it must be good.

You shook your head; your mind was wandering, and you really needed to get in the zone for your fight, even though it wasn't for a while.

Midoriya and Shinso looked at each other, practically glaring, from across the arena. The green haired boy clenched his fists at his side and Shinso gave a smirk. He said something, but since you were extremely far away, you couldn't make it out.

"AAAAAND... BEGIN!" As Present Mic said that, the fight began. You were on the edge of your seat already as Midoriya ran at Shinso. They exchanged some words, and you had never wished you had a hearing quirk quite as much as you did now. It was all over in a few seconds when he suddenly froze, his eyes white.

"What?" Uraraka screamed. "Why is he frozen? Move, Deku!"

You really didn't know what was happening, but you knew it was Shinso's quirk. It was just like that time that he had saved you from the reporters. The lady's eyes had turned white and she had walked away. Whatever it was, Shinso had an amazing quirk.

Midoriya turned around and began to slowly walk away from Shinso, almost like a robot. Your entire class was in an uproar, beside Todoroki and Bakugou, but that wasn't a surprise.

"What are you doing?" Sero yelled.

Mina jumped up, shaking Kaminari by his shoulders. "He can't lose that easily! Do something!"

You watched Midoriya intensely, a worried look on your face. However, as you looked at him, you saw something, almost like green lightning, dash across the fingers in his right hand. For a moment, you thought you had imagined it, since it quickly disappeared. But then, just as Midoriya was putting his foot over the line, something inside him snapped, and he turned back to Shinso. He had a crazed look on his face, and the fingers where you had seen the lightning were bruised.
