Tenten's POV

The next week went by pretty smoothly. Soccer practice had really started to kick in (no pun intended), and everybody was really nervous about the Suna game in two weeks. Apparently Temari, the girl I replaced, was really good, and word is her two younger brothers had joined the team too. I was just hoping they were good enough to put up a fight, but not quite as good as us.

As for school, I had for the most part caught up on my lessons and the struggle I was feeling was just the normal school struggle. I did get plenty of help from my friends though, many of whom were actually really smart. I had also become really close with everyone, especially the girls (who were basically in my room every second), and Neji. Neji had surprisingly become one of my closest friends at Konoha. It was really fun to mess with him, and he also let me play with his hair sometimes. (It's just so soft I couldn't help it!)

However, the week was slowly coming to a close and Ino's main concern was that stupid winter dance, which we still had two weeks to prepare for. Ino was on the dance committee though, so to her, it was a big deal. On top of that, it seemed like half the school had dates already somehow. Naruto and Hinata were going together (obviously), but the rest of us had no plans. I think Lee tried to ask me after practice the other day, but I quickly ran away before he could say anything. Nothing against Lee, but I did not want to spend an entire night talking about youth and determination.

When Saturday (finally!) arrived, Ino again woke me and Hinata in the wee hours of the morning. (12:30!) I scowled at her smiling face and threw a pillow in her general direction. It ended up at the foot of my bed.

"Oh come on, Tennie!" She pouted.

I hmphed, but got ready anyway. Sakura was also with her, but she didn't seem nearly as excited as Ino.

"Ino, do we really have to get dresses?" She asked. "I mean, I don't even know who I'd go with." I nodded in agreement.

Ino smirked. "Oh, please. You're telling me you don't know who you'd want to ask you?"

We both sort of looked at the ground. "I mean..."

She laughed. "Ha! That's what I thought. And don't worry about them asking you. I have a plan for that."

I gulped. This can't possibly be good.

And with that, we all headed toward the mall in Ino's car.

-------

I took one step into the mall, and instantly my stomach growled. The rest of the girls laughed at it. "Hmm." I said. "It seems like my stomach wants Chick-fil-a."

The others agreed, and we ate the heavenly goodness that is Chick-fil-a. Except Ino got a salad. We ate in a comfortable silence, which lasted all of five seconds, because we heard a familiar voice call out to us.

"Hey guys!"

We each stared at each other with wide eyes, and I'm not sure about everyone else, but mine were definitely panicked.

The tall blond knucklehead waved and walked over to our table. He planted a kiss on Hinata's forehead, and she instantly went red, but smiled anyway. With him were the rest of the boys, who just stood there awkwardly. They were joined by Kiba, Lee, and a few others I didn't know, but I did recognize Shino, the creepy bug dude in my English class.

"H-hi Naruto, I didn't know you guys were going to be here..."

"Oh yeah! Well, we're just hanging out. Do you want to join us?"

"No." Ino said, before Hinata could give in. "We're on a mission."

"Oh ok. Well we'll catch up with y'all later then!"

"B-bye Naruto!" Hinata said.

Before they left, I caught Sakura and Sasuke sort of glancing at each other and blushing. I smirked at her, which made her even redder.

"Thank god they left." I said. "I was a little terrified that they would want to join us or something."

Sakura nodded. "Yup. That would be awkward." We all shuddered at the thought of going dress shopping with guys. Not that that's a bad thing, but it was especially embarrassing for me, because I hate dresses.

Before we could accidentally run into the guys again, we hurried to the first store on the list, a shop called "Lulu's." To be honest, the mall didn't have that many options, so this was our best bet. Surprisingly, the dresses at the store weren't even that bad. Just to reiterate, I can't stand dresses. So I let Ino choose one for me. I quickly realized this was a mistake, because every dress she chose was just way too low cut or way too short. But eventually, we found one that covered the necessary areas and I considered that good enough. Sakura and Hinata found dresses fairly easily, practically everything looked amazing on both of them, and Ino had a hard time picking out which dress she liked best but eventually she came to a decision too.

Ino looked at her phone. "Wow! That took way less time than I thought it would. It's only 4! Do you guys wanna do something tonight?"

Sakura grinned. "Ya! We haven't taken Tenten to that dance club downtown yet!"

Ino smiled. "Omg. Sakura. Excellent suggestion. Tenten, Hinata. You coming? No actually, nevermind. You don't have a choice. You're coming."

"Ummm...." I looked at Hinata. She seemed into it enough, so I decided to agree. If Hinata was willing to do it, I guess I was too.

We drove back to the school and dropped our new dresses off and got changed to go out. I didn't really have anything that I could wear, so I borrowed Sakura's skirt and Ino's blouse. I then stuck on my combat boots. (I mean something had to be mine). Hinata was wearing a light blue dress that went well with her hair, Sakura wore a jean skirt and a black top, and Ino wore a white top and jeans. We were all set to go to.... A dance club?

"Um, guys, what exactly is this place?" I asked as we got into Ino's car again.

"Oh, you're gonna love it." Ino said. "Don't worry, it's not like a drinking club or anything.... Unless you want to..." She winked at me. "They don't serve alcohol, and it's mostly teens. But, most of the people there will be drunk regardless. Anyway, you can dance, they have a couple arcade machines, and I think karaoke..."

"Do they have food?" I asked.

"Ya." Sakura said.

"Alright. Good enough for me then." I closed my eyes and took a ten minute nap until we got to the dance club.
