Jack POV
Now that everyone was back, it was time to find their centers. I had explained it to Elsa but the information was mostly new to everyone else. North was giving everyone the basics which included a demonstration from his Russian nesting dolls. He was going through all of the layers before reaching the last, his center.
"I am the Guardian of wonder. Jack is guardian of fun. Tooth is guardian of memory. Bunny is guardian of hope and Sandy is guardian of Dreams. Before you can take your full place as guardians, you will need to find your center." He explained.
"How do we do that?" Hiccup asked.
"It is something you discover in yourself. It is what makes you who you are."
"I discovered mine by using my memories. Now that you have them back, we might be able to pinpoint what moment made you who you are." I added.
"So Kristoff is the guardian of ice." Anna teased, earning an eye-roll from her boyfriend.
"Or reindeer." Elsa piped up with a playful smile.
"I'm afraid it goes much deeper than that." Tooth sighed, a slight smile still present on her face.
"Remember the doll," North stated, holding up his center.
"So we have to figure out what trait is at our center. Piece of cake." Merida groaned sarcastically.
"We're going to go through your life stories to figure out what is the pivotal moment in your life." The group looked around until someone decided to step up.
"Alright. Let's get this over with." Merida stood up and told them all about her life before going to the academy. She told them about her relationship with her mother and how it had led to an unfortunate incident involving a bear.
"So when she went against her family and stood up with herself?" Tooth suggested.
"No that's not enough. Bunny, why did you pick her?" I asked turning to the other guardian.
"She fought a bear and protected her family." He shrugged. "She never once apologized for who she was. That takes courage."
"Courage," Merida mumbled, liking the sound of it. North seemed to agree.
"Merida, Guardian of Courage." She was surprised at how easy it had been. "Who would like to go next?"
"I'll go. I have to prove I'm more than just ice and reindeer." Kristoff chuckled, glancing at his girlfriend. "I was abandoned as a child and was raised by rock trolls. Then, when I got old enough, I started harvesting ice." Everyone stared at him waiting for more but he just shrugged.
"That's it?" I asked in disbelief.
"What about his relationship with Sven. If anything is at his center its the reindeer." Anna piped up. While at first, it seemed like she was teasing him again, she was serious.
"She has a point. When he accepted his place he wrote a letter asking that Sven be able to attend with him. He listed all of the reasons why he should be able to go." North chuckled thinking back to it.
"Kristoff is the most loyal best friend I know." Anna smiled proudly and everyone else agreed.
"Guardian of friendship." They decided. Rapunzel went next and her history of painting ended up labelling her as the guardian of creativity. She was always the one to look for creative solutions to problems.
Hiccup's decision to train dragons instead of kill them gave him the center of peace. Astrid stared at him proudly. The awkward boy from Berk had grown into a strong young man.
Anna was excited to go next. When they couldn't figure out what her center was, Elsa offered some insight.
"Anna never doubted me. Even though I shit her out for most of her life, she had faith that I had my reasons. She never hated me for it or forced me to tell her why. She just believed me."
"Trust." North summarized. Anna squealed excitedly, tackling Kristoff in a hug. Elsa and Eugene were the only two left. Eugene was nervous as he spent most of his life as a thief. He nervously told his story, relaxing as his friends gave him comforting looks.
"Is my center going to be mischief or thievery or something?" He asked nervously. He was more afraid of it being something about his days as an orphan.
"Why did you become a thief?" Tooth questioned.
"This book I read as a child. The tales of Flynnagin Ryder. As a kid all I wanted was tk be like him."
"You wanted an adventure." I realized and Eugene nodded.
"Guardian of adventure." North agreed. "Elsa?"
"I was born with ice magic. My sister and I were close until I nearly killed her so from then on, I stayed away. I tried to learn to cintrol my powers with the help of our parents but after they passed I couldn't. Then I became queen and got shipped off to the guardian school by my little sister. You know the rest..." Elsa trailed off at the end.
"If you didn't want to go to the school, why did you stay as long as you did?" Rapunzel asked, causing Elsa to think for a few moments.
"Anna. She wanted me to stay and I didn't want to abandon her." She confessed. "And then I met Merida and we bonded and she made it seem worth it."
"I think it goes deeper than that. More than just friendship." Tooth sighed. I understood where she was going with it.
"Love." I stated, a smile peaking through on my lips. Elsa met my eyes with slight shock. She shook her head in disbelief.
"There's no way. It should be Anna or Hiccup I don't-" She protested but North was confident.
"Elsa, guardian of love."
