Little kindness never hurts

It felt like you had been sleeping forever which in a way was nice, but it was also weird that he let you sleep that much. This can't continue forever right? Your mind shifting to the question you would find the answer to soon, did you pass his test? If you did then work for real would start but if you didn't pass his test what would happen? That was something you'd find out soon. He wasn't anywhere to be seen but you found a note which read: "In my office we'll talk there." With the text there also read where hi office was. Better get there fast as possible, you thought while walking the identical hallways trying to find your way to his office. It took some time for you to find the right place but then you nervously knocked on the door. It soon opened. Sitting in a chair opposite of him you turned to look at him. For some reason he wasn't wearing his mask or a bucket as you would refer it maybe it was because other people were not around. If you were him, you would wear it only when needed. "So, what you found out?" He asked. All or at least most of the Resistance plans would now get exposed. It did not automatically mean that one side would win and the other would lose but it sure made things harder for the other. "Well... they have a plan of finding Luke Skywalker to help defeat the First Order. To find him we need a map, which has been broken down to two parts." You told him amongst some other smaller things. He listened very closely to what you said and nodded. "That's enough to pass this test and that means you'll start working today. For obvious reasons I won't trust you fully and will keep a close eye on you so don't do anything you would regret later Y/N" Hearing those words was a relief at least you had passed.

"What do I need to know about my job? What rules I need to follow? You know the basic things about this job and life here overall." You asked. This was important to know. "Y/N you are my assistant which means you are going to help me with whatever I currently might need. You are going to have a data pad where I'll send you a list of things that need to be done by the end of the day. Mainly I'm the one giving you orders but if someone such as Hux needs you to do something you will do it. Don't question anyone giving you orders, well basic rules you should know. Break the rules and you will face consequences. And if you even try to contact the Resistance both you and they are dead." What he told you felt more like a lecture of some kind. Basic rules applied here not a surprise. Biggest difference was having more people that could order you around. More people with higher rank meant more trouble and even preferably people to avoid. "Understood." You shortly replied. "You can go now." He said giving you a data pad. You took it and left the room. If I want to be taken seriously, I probably need to look more like someone who's from this side, you thought. Here everyone always looked as if it was some type of a special thing to go to. Maybe doing your hair everyday would not be too much of a struggle. Also, you would need to get used to wearing only black since that was the color everyone besides the stormtroopers wore. The less anybody would question you or your presence the better. After you took a quick shower and changed to all black clothes that you found in the closet of your room you finally were ready to start working.

Checking the list of things that had to be completed by the end of the day you were happy, nothing too hard but still something where you needed to interact with some people here. While working as a Resistance spy your work was more action based now your work as Kylo Ren's assistant was much less action based. Now you were stuck working just in one place instead of being able to go on different planets exploring while completing missions. Maybe one day you would be able to leave this place as a part of your job. Would you ever miss your old life? So many questions on your mind. At least there was some way to distract yourself and that was working. Nothing seemed too hard just checking that things were working here and there. One thing you found out was that you had to discuss the plans you found out about and that made you get this job in the first place with Hux. General Hux was someone you never heard anything good about, even the way Kylo said his name with annoyance and disgusts in his voice made you not want to meet that man at all. But you decided not to judge him before meeting him. But still there had to be a reason why he was so disliked. Same with Kylo. Maybe it was because of them having to keep up with their authority or maybe it was because of something else more personal. One by one checking everything out of the list and everything seemed to be in order.

It was getting late already but it was finally time to discuss the plans. You wanted to make it easier for both of you by being at least nice. Little kindness never hurt anyone but did the exact opposite by making things better. But you would still be respectful and professional. It would make a good first impression and possibly make things easier for you in the future. Working with someone and at least getting along somewhat was much easier than working for someone you disliked and detreated as an enemy. You walked into the are you had been told he was working in. "You wanted to see me and discuss the plans, general?" You asked the man with red hair and he just nodded. In a way he seemed much more immitading than Kylo Ren with his mask on, but how? "Go on." He told you turning to face you. Fistly you explained the smaller and not too important plans. "The main thing seems to be finding Luke Skywalker and getting him to help the Resistance to defeat the First Order." You started and then he just asked: "And how do we find him?" "There's a map to him but it's divided into two parts and I did not find out where those parts are, general. I'm sorry." You said. He seemed to be annoyed about this but did nothing else than give you a look. A look that wasn't nice at all. He sighed and said: "Well... we need to find the map before they do. Y/N next time try to find out everything not just part of the plans." It was weird that he knew your name without you telling it to him first but probably Kylo had told him your name. You nodded. "I promise. See you around" You said with a small smile and then left. He wasn't as bad as people had told you, he probably didn't have it easy. You were very happy with how the first day of your new job. One thing you were missing was a friend or someone to talk to. Only people you had talked to were Kylo and Hux and they did not seem like they would be the type of people to make friends with easily, but you would give it a try at least. Maybe this could lead you into something.
