"Oh, Tikki. I don't know why I did that!" Marinette threw herself on her bed in a pool of regret. Tikki flew out of her bag and sat on her shoulder, patting her head. "Whether it's the wrong choice or not, its good that you have an additional person on your team. His powers could prove useful." Tikki squeaked.
"I know Tikki! But Hawk Moth already knows his secret identity, don't you know what he can do with that information? He could hurt his loved ones!" Marinette sat up, staring at her pink wall. Tikki whispered under her breath, "Hawk Moth can't lay a hand on you because you're Ladybug..."
"What was that?"
"I said that you have to trust him, Marinette! Wasn't that why you gave him the miraculous?" Tikki gave her a sheepish smile. Marinette went silent in thought. She sighed and gave her kwami a cookie. "You're right, I need to trust him. Something inside of me knew that I was making the right choice," She pondered.
She yawned and laid down on her bed. Her eyes closed, pulling her into a pleasant dream.
"Wow, girl. You seem energized, did you dream about Adrien or what?" Alya nudged Marinette. Her face flushed bright pink and stuttered, "No-no I didn't I just, had a good breakfast that's all!"
"That was a seriously lame excuse,"
Marinette gave her friend a sheepish smile as they entered the courtyard. It was buzzing with students that were talking about the akuma that had happened the other day. "Hey, Alya!" Nino waved to them from across the crowd. They ran towards Nino, who was talking to the one and only, Adrien Agreste.
"Hey, guys!" Adrien flashed them a smile which made Marinette swoon. Marinette had to force herself away from his green eyes to listen to Nino talking. "Yo, did you hear about the new superhero?"
Alya rolled her eyes, "He's not new! He's fought with Ladybug before! Anyways, I wrote an article on him on my Lady blog. He's officially part of the team now! But I don't get it, why can't Rena Rouge be on the team if he is..."
Marinette flushed and looked at the pavement in embarrassment. "Wait," Adrien asked, "Who are you guys talking about?"
"Viperion of course!"
"You mean L- I mean, I didn't know. Ladybug didn't say anything about that..."
The three friends ignored Adrien's weird comment and they kept talking about the news as Marinette shuffled on her feet, not paying attention to their conversation. She hadn't realised that her choice would've created such a large commotion.
She sneaked off alone, she couldn't take it anymore. The pressure kept pulling her down and she couldn't focus on her schoolwork for the rest of the day. She kept asking herself the same question over and over. Will Hawk Moth get to him?
Sighing, she went off to the last class of the day, art. Knowing she was a little late, she ran up the stairs and closed the door behind her puffing. "Oh, I didn't know you took this class."
Marinette lost it. She yelped out loud when she saw a familiar set of aqua and black hair.
"Um, are you okay?" Luka put his hand over her shoulder. Pink seeped on her cheeks as she shook his hand off. "Yeah! I'm fine, sorry about that. I thought you were- An akuma!" She rambled. Marinette smiled nervously. She gave herself a mental facepalm, not now Luka! Not when she was thinking about him all day and the choice she had made.
"If you say so." Luka gave her a small smile. She blinked, "Since when do you take art?" She asked. He shrugged, his dyed locks bouncing, "Since today, they moved me here according to my timetable because I play music. You know, because I'm in a different grade."
"Right," Marinette muttered under her breath. That meant he was going to be in her class twice a week. Not good. She realised Luka was still looking at her, "Oh! Um, I need to go to my table. To design some clothes. Yeah!"
She rushed to her table and got seated, glad that the conversation was over. A shadow loomed over her shoulder and it asked, "May I see your work? I need inspiration for my music." She squeezed her eyes shut, asking herself why she was so worked up.
"Um, sure!" She looked back up and shuffled through her designs. Marinette didn't want to embarrass herself so she looked for the floral dress she had designed for herself, she was quite fond of it. Not realising she was making a mess of papers across her desk, she dug through her file with visible frustration on her face.
"Marinette, is this the one you were looking for?" Luka held up her drawing with a floral dress. She smiled in embarrassment and she nodded. He chuckled under his breath and gave it to her, "You're really talented. Is this dress for you?"
"Oh, yeah. It is, thanks!" She felt her cheeks go hot once again. "In fact, all of them look really good. When are you making them?" He asked as he observed the sheets of paper spread out all over the table. Marinette stared at him in disbelief, did he really think all of them were good? She was planning to throw all of her ideas in the trash.
"Well, I'm focusing on this one for the moment. As you can see in the corner, I am fitting the skirt already." She pointed to a mannequin in the corner. Luka thought for a while and smiled, "Thanks for showing me all this. I know where to start now. May I help you with this mess? I was the one that asked you anyways."
She helplessly looked at the mess and nodded. They both put the designs in a pile as they had a small talk. To be honest, Marinette felt flustered. She looked over at the boy with teal eyes and would find herself in that position until she got ahold of herself and kept organising the sheets.
"Thank you so much for helping me, Luka." She gave him a smile, she was glad to have a small chat with him. She had been stressing all day to realise that Tikki was right, she needed to trust him.
"You can always count on me." He gave her a confident look with his snake-like eyes. Marinette did a double-take as she realised it was the same thing he had said when she was Ladybug. He walked away with his guitar slung over his shoulder. Marinette muttered under her breath, "I know I can. This is the matter of Hawk Moth's victory or ours..."
She went back to her work with emerald green eyes in her mind but she realised they were slowly turning teal.
